Just wondering what everybody's fears and phobias are. Kind of a personal question, so no hard feelings if a member doesn't want to discuss.
Some fears of mine:
1. Most kinds of statues. I don't know why. Feminine or innocent types of statues (Angels, the Virgin Mary, etc) give me the willies. Statues of Doughboys or Martin Luther King or whatever don't scare me. 2. Sexually transmitted diseases or talking about them. It's gotten better since recent years, but going into huge detail leaves me grossed out, pale, and on the verge of passing out. I have horrible (also hilarious) memories of health class, and the teacher and students being extremely concerned about how deathly I looked after seeing victims of syphilis. 3. Heights. I have such a horrendous fear of heights that I got pretty close to vomiting over them. Nuff said.

1: Spiders. I absolutely hate spiders. And insects. Anything smaller than a mouse, really - or with more than four legs. I saw an article on Yahoo! recently that had the headlining picture right on Yahoo!'s home page of a massive hairy spider and I actually had to put my hand over that picture on the screen until I'd passed by it to another news item. Ick. I hate hate hate spiders. 2: Physical illnesses like the one I had a couple summers ago that took me out of work for a month. Now, every time I get so much as a pimple on my leg or stomach, I get panicky thinking I'm going to suffer that pain again when they had to cut a golf-ball sized blight out of my leg... 3: and tied in to #2 a bit - cancer. Cancer terrifies me. My best friend lost both his sister and his mother to cancer (my friend was only 17 and his older sister was only 24 when she died), his father had a form of cancer that I think has been removed by surgery but the fear is still there it might come back. I had a cancer scare last year, and I had nightmares about it. My grandmother had brain cancer in the end, but it was the various other cancers she had over the years that kept weakening her even though they kept putting her in surgery to remove the cancerous invasions until finally there was the one they could not get rid of. Damn cancer.

My only real phobia is wasps. Those fuckers need to be killed with fire.

Yeah wasps for me too. I think I got stung by a bee when I was five! Since then... xD

One went inside my friend's ear and stung him once, so that was fucked up.

1. Wasps / Flying insects. I can ignore houseflies for a time but soon they need to be gone or I go nuts.
2. Lack of control. Learning to curb this by "planning" unplanned events. AKA only thing I have to know is where the hotel is...

Does "becoming extinct" also factor into this?

The idea of sharp objects or glass or needles going into my feet is something that borderline horrifies me. I don't mind needles at the doctor or clinics as long as I do not see it going in. It's not the pain, which in most cases is minimal for me, but the idea of it. And the idea of it happening specifically to my feet makes my flesh crawl.
