So, what do you think? Was he right to do it? What in fact did he do? Aside from pulling off the spiky haircut... (I did look to see if we'd already had this discussion, but nothing on the first page pertained to it) www.cnn.com/2014/03/10/tech/web/edward-snowden-sxsw/

Snowden and Wikileaks. I dreaded the day they would hit this board and now they are both here at pretty much the same time. What I think... I actually am not sure what I think. I have some very nasty opinions of Julian Assange. But we are talking about Snowden. The all encompassing reach of the global surveillance he has brought to light is very fucking creepy. Under these procedures we are all guilty until proven innocent. There is a definite measure to harvest as much private communication as possible and save copies forever. Speaking as someone who communicated with a bankruptcy trustee and lawyer by email over the last year, I am fucking appalled. As they are tapping phones, those are not private either. Such systemic violation of citizen privacy by governments needs to be fought. These actions needed to come to light. What I find objectionable, was the method. Blowing the lid off in this way is dangerous. Sending it to a punk like Julian Assange and Wikileaks is dangerous. This is the same guy who released names and locations of NATO informants in Afghanistan publicly. Snowden seems to be being used by Russia right now in it's own info war. If he's not careful he will be a new cog in a massive machine whose only purpose is to undermine the US. Russia is not cute and cuddly like a lot of other countries and things are getting nasty in Europe right now.

I thought you were talking about the mountain Snowdon, in Wales!
It's very nice. I went up there once. At the very top they have a Konami Simpsons arcade cabinet, which as I understand it is pretty rare.
Recommended. xD

I agree with what he did. It's about time somebody did this, I mean think about it, this guy knew what he was getting himself into, he left everything behind to expose the wrong doing of the US government.

It's not black and white, the world rarley is these days. What he did, it had to be done. The Cold War never stopped when the Berlin wall came down aparantly and the distrust the Us has with the EU is very disturbing. However endangering operations and relations with whistle blowing is equally just as bad so...I dunno.

Cool, no explosions or flames yet.
Just as long as it stays that way. This especially means no drinking and posting here.
