The first three are timeless classics. Great tactical stealth play and a fantastic performance from Michael Ironside as Sam Fisher. Double Agent, the fourth game, I'm not so sure about. There were two different versions, one that was almost on the level of the original three, and the other rather meh. I'm not sure which one PC has. Conviction is pretty ridiculous. It's more 24 (Capping people in Washington D.C. and performing extremely brutal interrogations rather than the slower, hi-tech ninja gameplay of the previous games) than a Splinter Cell game. Pretty much stealth for the Dudebro audience. Blacklist is in the same vein as Conviction, being an extremely fast, casual stealth game, but I think it actually salved a little of the damage done by Conviction. You can play non-lethally/ghost again, you visit a good variety of locales, and most of the game can be done in co-op. However, this is the first game where Michael Ironside doesn't voice Fisher, which is unacceptable.

In my opinion, Conviction is easily the weakest in the series (but to be honest, I still kind of enjoy it). With Chaos Theory being the champion and praefect. Pandora Tomorrow, if I remember correctly, has the best story of them all, and is also the hardest of the series.
Double Agent has an interesting gimmick as you go undercover in a domestic terrorist organization.
I would definitely rate Blacklist higher if it weren't for the fact that Michael Ironside doesn't voice Sam. His new voice actor in that game is God awful, and sounds bored to shit, and doesn't have the dark sense of humor the character is known for.
