So, what alignment do you guys prefer to play in RPGs? Whether in a defined way or just trying to make choices that fit said alignment? I usually tend towards Neutral Evil. Getting mad paper, being feared, but usually not engaging in evil stuff just for it's own sake. Blame it on playing RPGs and GTA clones in equal measure. Lawful Good is objectively the worst, btw. I can only assume people pick it because it's the default option.

I tend to default to neutral good or Chaotic good myself.
CRPs tend to have a really crap grasp of what constitutes "evil." It seems to translate more into sandcastle kicking and lunch money stealing rather than pure cold blooded badness. Proper lawful good is really hard to achieve in reality. It is very difficult to be properly good withing the confines of a (seriously flawed) legal structure. So done right it could actually be the most interesting. But as long as you can loot the dead and not call the authorities after massacring bad guys you're not actually playing that alignment but using loop holes.
Neutral or lawful evil would be great options but I have never seen the ability to play that properly on a computer game. Only in pen and paper.

I don't play RPGS except on Xbox, but I guess what I tend towards would be neutral good. Agreed with what Linders said about it being hard to be good within a legal structure. I've protested too many laws to think of 'lawful' and 'good' as the same thing!
I really do feel uncomfortable playing evil though.

I play as Paragon / whatever else it's called in Mass Effect; I actually found it hard to be Renegade...
In Oblivion / Skyrim, I play Good with touches of not-so-good by being heroic and still joining the Thieves' Guild and the Dark Brotherhood...

Neutral/Chaotic Good to Lawful/Neutral Evil for me for reasons already stated. In ME2 I have to consciously stick to being Paragon because if I go with what my first impulse is, I'd be almost completely middle ground.
The way I explain it to those who are unfamiliar with RPG alignments is I usually don't go out of my way to be a bastard, but I'm more than capable of going down that road if I feel it's necessary.

I'm a goody two shoes. I have to work hard to play renegade games, since I'm afraid of hurting their feelings.

Chaotic Good, think Han Solo.
