I know we've had 'favourite ever games' lists before, but I thought it was time for a new one, since time has passed and we have some new members.
This is the scenario, borrowed from the famous old BBC radio show Desert Island Discs --
--
You are washed up on an uninhabited desert island all by yourself. As you explore and set up a shelter, you find a big TV which somehow has free power, and a strange, magical games machine that can store exactly 20 computer or videogames (any size, any genre, any platform) on its hard drive, but can never delete any. You have to choose them all now, before playing.
So if it came down to it, what twenty games would you pick to entertain you for the rest of your life?

Oh... well, I'm glad you specified it could be games from any platform and any system and whatnot, since I only play five different games on my PC, and the rest of the games I like are for Super Nintendo (Damn, I miss my old SNES!) ;D
So here goes:
1. TESIV: Oblivion 2. TESV: Skyrim 3. Mass Effect 1 4. Mass Effect 2 5. Mass Effect 3
And from Super Nintendo: 6. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past 7. Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest 8. Super Mario World 9. Super Mario Bros (from Super Mario AllStars) 10. Super Mario Bros 2 (from Super Mario AllStars) 11. Super Mario Bros 3 (from Super Mario AllStars) 12. Donkey Kong Country 13. Disney's Aladdin 14. Disney's The Lion King
And that's really all I can remember...
I'd probably add (...just in case I can get used to the control scheme during the rest of my life stuck on said deserted island... ;D) 15. Deus Ex: Human Revolution 16. Assassin's Creed 17. Assassin's Creed 2 18. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood 19. Assassin's Creed Revelations 20. Assassin's Creed 3

I think I should have said 10 instead of twenty! I was thinking of myself - I've been having great trouble narrowing it down to that many, since I still love and play Nintendo and Super Nintendo and stuff all the time.
I like your collection a lot Lily. Linders yours is far too modern for me. I don't even know what Panzer Dragoon Saga is.
NEW RULE by the way - in case you were thinking multiplayer games weren't worth taking - you have met a monkey who plays games with you sometimes.
Mine:
1 Mass Effect 3 2 Knights of the Old Republic 3 Super Mario Bros. 3 4 Ocarina of Time 5 Starfox 64 6 Super Metroid 7 Portal 8 Super Smash Bros Brawl 9 Mario Kart Wii 10 Donkey Kong Country 11 Donkey Kong Country 2 12 Earthworm Jim 13 Mass Effect 1 14 Castlevania (even when I am cut off from civilisation entirely, Dracula is still getting mercilessly beaten down by me once a week.) 15 Doom 16 Mass Effect 2 17 Skyrim 18 A good version of Street Fighter 2 19 The Curse of Monkey Island 20 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Cruel, cruel fate! I would choose to spend the remainder of it in the good company of: 1. Planescape: Torment 2. Mass Effect 1 3. Mass Effect 2 4. Mass Effect 3 5. Morrowind 6. Oblivion 7. Dragon Age: Origins 8. Dragon Age 2 With the new rule, 9. Starcraft (the original one) co-op play with the monkey. Aaaand... I would also hate to miss out on the upcoming: 10. Torment: Tides of Numenera 11. Project Eternity ... which would in turn make me nostalgic for 12. Baldur's Gate II 13. Icewind Dale and I'd wrap it up with 14. Warcraft III + its expansion (which I started but never finished) 15. The Beast Within 16. KotOR Plus a few more I haven't managed to play yet! 17. KotOR 2 18. Fallout III 19. X-COM 20. Bioshock: Infinite To think that I actually had to narrow down this list! I left out the Battle for Wesnoth, and Nethack, among others. Edit: Just saw that this was my 1000th post.

1000 posts - well done!
And the fact that your 1000th included the phrase "co-op with the monkey" makes you a better person in my book.
I feel like a philistine reading your list since I've played so few and yet they all seem like the sorts of things I would have liked if I could be bothered to read as a kid.

In a post apocalyptic steampunk world you ride on a transformable dragon blowing up airships and save the girl. It was on 4 disks in the Sega Saturn and tested that poor rig to the limit. Iron Storm and Panzer Dragoon are the ones that I got the most hours in. And both are over 15 years old. I think there is a pretty good mix of old and new on my list and I took the nostalgia goggles off because a few of the ones I replayed from the good old days were not as good today as I remember. I see myself replaying these ones over andf over though.

Buch, I think you would have liked The Beast Within. Despite being very old (1995), it's not quite as dated as one would expect because it's actually all video with live actors. And I really liked the story, too.

Hm. One of those FMV games? I've never played a good one of those but they really interest me. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Why do I have to be washed ashore with a monkey? Why can't I have my girlfriend survive the wreck, too? It's like even my fantasies have ego issues.

Alfred is pretty awesome, Ex-MI6 if I recall.
Right my 20 games in no order whatsoever because screw you.
1: Warcraft 3 plus expansion 2; Starcraft 3: Mario Party ( any of them will be good) 4: Final Fantasy 9 5: Jurassic Park Park Builder 6: Halo ( first one) 7: Dragon Age: Origins 8: World of Warcraft...but then again this begs the issue on how i can play a MMO on a deserted Island so....screw it, monkies have a internet connection. 9: Star Trek Online 10: Republic Commando 11: Kotor 12: Starcraft II 13: League of Legends 14: Mass Effect 1,2 and 3 because I consider them one story. 15: Witcher II 16: Halo 3 17: Age of Empires 2 18: Neverwinter Nights 19: Sonic Heroes 20: Skyrim.
