I think thane would've won if he was at his best for that fight.

There's no way this question would get an honest response among Mass Effect fans, since Thane is a fan favourite and Kai Leng will forever be remembered as the perpetrator of the Great Cereal Atrocity at worst and a poorly-developed, cartoonish side character at best. I suppose it's hard to say since we don't know a great deal about the skills of either one aside from what we see and their very different but both very impressive records. Thane was trained from birth, but Leng was a phenomenal rising star and N7 in the Alliance and has everything to prove. Both are biotic and Leng has new, strange and unmatched Cerberus upgrades, but Thane has more experience and his people must have better biotic training. In all seriousness I think they would probably come out about equal. But even then, I'm still voting for Thane because he's better disciplined and he has that one line before he dies: "Your assassin should be ashamed. A drell in the latter stages of Kepral's syndrome nearly got the better of him." That's a good point, and Thane doesn't seem like the type to exaggerate. Plus, Leng would have a hard time seeing anything with that giant mask thing stuck to his face.

Yeah. I only read the first one, but it was very poor. It's a shame, and I'm always a bit annoyed when the books intrude on the games. There's a bit in the third game where Anerson says "The Illusive Man has outfitted Leng with cybernetic implants just like you, and Grayson!" Or something. And I'm like, "Right! Thank you sir! Who the hell is Grayson?"

I read 1, 2, & 3. I will not read 4.
As to Thane beating Kai Leng, he could have easily had him down for the count and lived another 3 weeks (Until Timmy took the citadel) if he'd just ducked. I mean, he battled him to a stand still and the only thing between Shepard's team and Kai Leng was Thane. Had he ducked, Leng would be dead, or at the very least full of holes.
IMHO, that sequence was pretty unbelievable.

Ah, glad I'm not in the minority when it comes to the books at least. Picked up one, read a few pages, thought - hmm, that's not exactly very good writing. Too jarring to continue reading.
I voted for Thane, and Buch pretty much summed up all I had to say about it.

Take away his plot armor and Leng is nothing. Near as I could see all Leng had was the so called informed ability. There was a lot of telling but little show in the game. After Thane biotically pimp slapped Leng down Shep's squad should in the real world have riddled him with holes. Even in the final boss encounter Leng showed very little skill. No dodging, "hiding" in plain view to recharge his shields... He was a 12 year old's idea of an anime villain. I still don't know WTF they were thinking introducing this clown into the lore.

I think they wanted to make another Saren so hard, they screwed up with Leng.

*shrieking at the top of my lungs Captain Kirk-style* LEEENNNGGG!!! *growls* I hate that stupid little Final Fantasy Reject with stupid face-goggles... Thane should have kicked his scrawny plot-armored arse from the Citadel all the way to The Terminus Systems... As for the books, I have heard it said (by many of you) that they are not good... and in no way comparable to the actual games... but I do want to read them, just so I can say I read them. This might lead to my eyes hurting, like the time I read the first "Fifty Shades of Grey" book for the sole purpose of being able to justify the mockery I was levying against it... ;D Good lord, that book was terrible...

Or just your standard camera style imaging display? Anywho Mark Mushashi the man who did Kai Lengs mocap is fucking amazing! He's been in some Tokusatsu shows like Garo, and played Kazuya in the Street Fighter x Tekken: The Devil Within - Short Film
