I thought perhaps we should have a place for this stuff, since I keep encountering appalling or terrible things online. So to start it off, today I found a picture of The Slender Man having sex with General Grievous, which I don't want to post... ...and this - a four-thousand-word essay on the personal and career history of the guy who says 'Look sir: droids!' in Star Wars. That's probably the stupidest thing I've ever read. Well done. starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Davin_Felth

Good God. People give Trekkies a bad rep for their nerdom, but it's nothing compared to the unbelievable lengths of the Star Wars Extended Universe fandom.
Fact: SW Extended Universe damaged my love for the franchise even more than the prequels did.

We need to get in on this. Anyone care to collaborate on a Mass Effect expanded universe novel about this guy?:

I agree. Knowing the terrible / contrived / ridicuous things that have come before and after, I find it harder to enjoy the films. Why do I want Han and Leia to succeed when I know their son will become an all-powerful Sith Lord?
Even some of the novels (and games) I love spoil it for me. It's hard to be in awe of Emperor Palpatine when I know that Darth Revan and TOR's 'Emperor' were equally successful. And why even invest in a Galaxy which hasn't changed socially or culturally in any way in over 5000 years? It used to be a galaxy of strange adventures, warring factions, exploding planets and unknowlable aliens, but now it's stagnant. The endless repetition of Jedi, fallen Jedi, smuggling ships and scoundrels makes the movies seem slightly less special.
And of course the Expanded Universe really doesn't help with the 'small world' factor which plagues the Star Wars franchise. It was one thing for Luke and Leia to turn out to be Darth Vader's kids, but now the intricate lattice of how every main character is directly related to every other one has become silly.

See, Glow, you make a good point there.
I wrote like three fanfics giving histories and personalities to very minor characters from Mass Effect (including a soldier who died on Eden Prime), and then tying them directly to Shepard.
So, yeah, I'll be over here if you need me.

Nice thing about us Trekkies: at least we can point to how our nerd-crack of choice has influenced modern tech. I'd say we don't get as emotionally-charged as SW freaks, but the I remembered the epic brawl that broke out over Picard vs Kirk at a local convention a couple years back...

I'm no expert on this, but even I know that the answer is Picard.

I'm sorry, but Sisko is the absolute least cool, and I don't just mean among Star Trek captains.

Not to mention the fact that Sisko is a major league Marty Stu. Right down to becoming a God at the show's end.

Shall we add every video game protagonist EVER to the mix Buch? Inquiring minds want to know.
Video game PCs are exempt, for pretty obvious reasons.
Besides, we don't KNOW anything happens to Shepard other than getting vaporized as Starbrat could be lying about crap.

I was actually trying to be self depricating there. And also I would have thought that me mocking the ME3 ending and my support for it would have been the one thing I could bank on you agreeing with!
