Update on the pups: the "special needs" rescue is taking all four just to keep them together. They need their health certificates in order to travel across state lines, but besides that they're ready to go. Yay! They get to stay together! Good news indeed...

I hadn't read about this story in a while and was saddened to read that the little girl died of SMA shortly after she turned 5 months old (docs gave her at best 18 months). Then the onions came out when I read the poem her father wrote for her on what would be her first birthday: May I suggest a tissue? If that doesn't move you, then you probably don't have a pulse.

That poor child... and her poor parents...

Somebody ran a large-scale petition to convince the United States government to build a third Death Star. And this was the response.I don't know if you have to be a supporter of the current US government for your heart to melt at this, but AWWWWW!

I'm pretty happy to hear that the US government is supporting into scientific progress that isn't involved with destruction.

I saw that already. I love how overly sensitive some folks can get. Apparently officials of the mint are expected to be botanists all of a sudden. People get upset over the silliest things sometimes

... I honestly hadn't noticed that it was the 'wrong' leaf - I'm more bothered by the rubber feel of the bills now - they're icky. And apparently they melt in the heat. I've heard some people found melted bills in their wallets on very hot days...
