Went to the vet with Henry the other day (again) and a toddler saw him lounging on the floor and yelled, "A LION!" "No, honey, that's a dog," his mother told him. She quickly added, "Though I can see why you think he looks like one." The kid was not convinced. "LION!" Henry took no offense and gladly stood there for petting. They were not joking when they said Great Pyrenees are awesome kids' dogs. I had to wake up a bit early to clean up the drum room and move said drums around. This girl is coming home today (as a foster): Physically, she's healthy. Mentally... that's why she's getting her own room for a little while before she's cleared for adoption. I should make offerings to the Deity of Decent Vacuuming now, or my rug will go from brown to white.

That's what's so cool about kids and dogs. And that football fan there - you have to respect him. Going in and sitting there to be stared at, to watch his team. Good work.

Okay, with all the nasty stuff going on these days, I felt the need to look up stuff that would make me laugh.
So, I was looking up clips from various episodes of "Ellen" (she is awesome - I just love Ellen ;D) and I came across this particular clip - this made me tear up with happy tears, it was so sweet and adorable - and I love that Ellen would be so nice as to do this for her crew...
Cutest proposal ever!! ;D That is so awesome!

As a wise man once said, "I'm sure the human stands to gain from it somehow." But yeah, that is a very sweet proposal.

I got word today that four puppies were dumped by the side of the road in the city over the weekend and ended up at the shelter. One pup is deaf, another is blind AND deaf, and the other two are healthy. Momma was dumped with them and is not in great health. The rescue I work with was worried about trying to find a place that would take in "special needs" pups since we have a big shortage of foster homes right now. It turns out that Facebook can be good for something after all. I remembered a rescue near my former hometown that only takes in animals with special needs (they focus mainly on blind dogs and horses), informed the rescue I work with about them once I found their contact info online, and started the chain of events that has ensured the puppies' survival. Just in time for New Year's.

Oh, good for you! You know, I've said it before and will say it again - I love that you are so helpful to down-on-their-luck animals - the cats and dogs etc. are fortunate that someone like you is around... though, you said the rescue specialises in special needs animals - does that mean the two healthy puppies will be separated from their siblings and mama? Or can they stay together because they're a family?

They're trying to keep them in pairs at least. I don't know if they'll be able to stay together (doubtful right now).

Update on the pups: the "special needs" rescue is taking all four just to keep them together. They need their health certificates in order to travel across state lines, but besides that they're ready to go.
