This is the cutest thing I ever saw, to see such love between a lioness and a human! Valentin and SirgaWatch the video linked in the article, I *squee'd* when I saw the reunion! So very very cute... Not sure if it's the same pair, but I know of a man and a lioness who were very closely bonded. He went away for a while but came back on a visit and she not only recognized him, but left him, went to her den, and brought out her cubs to meet him. After a few hours, she led them all back to her den and he slept among them with the lioness cuddling up to him.

That proves that wild animals are not simply wild beasts - they have feelings and emotions and can feel love that transcends species - and it's awesome! I just can't stop squeeing over that video of Sirga glomping Valentin!

Oh wow, Iron! Those videos are amazing - I *squee'd* when the little cub climbed on the man's chest and yawned in the second video, and just the fact that not only does that lioness trust him to come into her home near her cubs (when most lionesses would kill on sight to protect her babies), but she actually brought her babies to him as if to say "Here's my babies! Aren't they cute? Be proud of us!" I loved watching how much the lions in general in the third video seemed to love this man... so damn cute!!!

The thing is, he's been with most of those lions since they were cubs and he also works with leopards and spotted hyenas. For the most part, they're not truly wild, but rather raised on conservation land which enables him to influence their behavior and get them to accept him and the members of his staff.
Edit to add: I believe he's currently the caretaker of about 38 lions in total plus the hyenas and leopards.

I really needed to see such cuteness this morning; after the horrible nightmare I had last night I needed some serious cheering up this morning... the cute lions helped...

This is awesome! We so often see articles in the news about Police Officers behaving badly, it's really nice to see the good ones get recognition for doing good things!

That is impressive - good for him, it must have taken some intense bravery to put himself in danger like that...

Good lord, that made my eyes water big time... that poor kid, losing his father like that... and then for the Rancher to do what he did, that's the sweetest thing I've heard in a long time... God bless them both.
