This is a silly thing, but one thing that has been bothering me since Mass Effect 2 was new, is how often a female Shepard is romantically propositioned by characters she barely knows, over the course of the games.
Anyone else notice this? And is it the same for a male character, or does he have to do all the work there?
Regardless, here is my comprehensive list of people who have flirted with or otherwise sexually propositioned Commander Andrea Shepard, despite her never showing any interest at all during my recent three-game run.
Kaidan Alenko Sha'ira the Consort (bonus point for randomly stroking Shep's face) Harkin Liara T'soni Kelly Chambers (three awkward attempts) Matriarch Aethyta (might be exaggerating this one) Shiala Thane Krios An un-named krogan, via email Tali Zorah (The linking-suits thing. Maybe not...) An un-named turian in a bar. Morinth (I led her on, but she then attempted to hypnotise me, so she still wins the point) Samara Mordin Solus (joking) James Vega (five attempts) Samantha Traynor (three increasingly awkward attempts) Urdnot Wrex (joking) Diana Allers Liara again Garrus Vakarian (joking)
--
Now I'm not an attractive, successful woman. But that seems like a lot, over the space of a few months military service.
And I'm pretty sure I missed several smaller characters, but I can't remember them right now...

Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac, and Shepard is very powerful.

I just don't see why, after all this time, Gorvar and Glow can't proposition me once in a while. That's all.

Well you gotta admit, war and dangerous situations also increase the libido of people. Look at World War II and the baby boom that came after it, for an example.

Male Shepard probably uses this
For female Shep, IDK.
We could just say that it was Bioware givong virtual love interests to their player base to give them more investment, but that might sound like I am giving them praise.
I actually think too much effort went into the romance subplots nearly to the point that other story elements may have suffered. But I am pretty sure that may have been one of our many clashes so i'll just shut it now.

Well you gotta admit, war and dangerous situations also increase the libido of people. Look at World War II and the baby boom that came after it, for an example. As I said in the Random Quote thread the things that make people feel the most alive is fighting and sex. Both are massive adrenaline rushes (if done right) and both boil everything down to the basics life: survive and continuation of the species. Another thing to consider is the following joke. Two soldiers are sitting in a fire base around Kandahar, Afghanistan. One spots a woman walking about and says "Hey, Joe. What do you think of that one?" Joe answers "I'd have to rate her a solid Afghanistan seven." First guy says "How about if we were back in the States?" Joe replies, "Then I'm pretty sure that chick's really a dude..."

I guess you all make a good point. It's very beleivable that somebody you rescued from a giant monster / robot army / genophage would fancy you.
Except Linders, of course. No actually, Linders I kinda agree with your thing too. I'd say that there were too *many* romance options, not that they had too much time or effort put in. If they had just stuck to Liara, Kaidan and Ashley, maybe also added, say, Miranda and Thane, and then made them more detailed, that would have been ideal for me.

ME 2's biggest issue in general was that there were too many squadmates to give any of them the proper attention they deserve. The game needed to be twice as long to truly get everything from a team that big.
If the time and resource was there then great, have Shep able to bone everything. BUt as Buch said, it's better to choose a smaller list of LIs. Not Miranda/Thane though. Maybe Garrus/Tali instead. ;D

The squad list for ME2 was big, even excluding the dlc characters. Having more encounters like Shi'ira would have been nice though,.

You might be right there.
And good point about the gay romances in ME3 - I loved the fact that they were there.
