As I've mentioned before, I'm a metalhead and own a guitar so I figured this would be an interesting thread in case some of you guys are more musically inclined and play instruments.
Now despite being a metalhead, here's the kind of stuff I'm working on...
That isn't me in the vid, obviously...

I used to play the piano, until I moved out from my parents' house and they ended up selling the piano... I really miss that old piano - I was pretty good, too, I like to think... but unfortunately never got any videos or recordings of me playing. I did get pretty good at playing the music from RENT and Les Mis and Phantom of the Opera - and if I had the money and the space to keep a piano, I'd teach myself how to play the soundtracks from Pirates of the Caribbean and Oblivion and Skyrim and maybe even Mass Effect (if I could be that good)... I would also like to learn how to play the guitar or the violin - I love string instruments - but I can't afford to buy an instrument or take lessons...

I can play a hard rock/metal version of "Sons of Skyrim" and once I get Canon down, I'll be learning the main Pirate's theme. Speaking of which...

Ok. This is a recording of me from a few months ago. My attempt at Iron Maiden's "2 Minutes to Midnight". For reference: the studio recording from their Powerslave album.

Oh, I have such a soft spot for Pachelbel's Canon ;D Do you play much more classical guitar, meironmaiden? And Lily, I LOVE the "Phantom of the Opera" music! If I could play piano, it'd be the first stuff I'd learn...and have you considered maybe renting a string instrument? That way you could try it out for size and it wouldn't be nearly as expensive. I'm a woodwinds player (flute, recorders [yes, they ARE instruments too and I can play anything a flute player can on them], Irish whistle, etc.) and right now I'm working on Schubert's Opus 160. And it is hard. As in, one of the movements is nothing but sixty-fourth notes. It's kind of killing me right now. Here's a recording, if any of you are into classical music (and 5:00 or so has the really fast stuff): Other than that...like I mentioned in another thread, I'm working on arranging a version of "In Uthenera" for Irish whistle, bass flute, and voice (I think I'm going to include an a capella section at the end with four voices, and it sounds pretty in my head, but I don't know if it'll actually work). But I'm notorious in my teacher's studio for my complete lack of rhythm, so...we'll see how this goes

This is a great thread. I don't play a thing, but I approve very much.
