Well it looks like my blind prejudice was right, at least in the eyes of the critics.
Self-satisfaction for me. Seriously though, all they had to do to correct this concept was change the character's name from Lincoln to something else. It seems to me that maybe they started off with a concept for a comedy, and then changed their mind and wanted to make a serious period horror, but got stuck with the original title.

Well if it takes itself too seriously, THAT's a problem. It's an absurd idea and concept. It should be getting the Mel Brooks treatment. I can already see the writer saying, "No no no, it is black comedy, Hahahaha, funny story right Mark?" about a year after release. Ever heard of "deadpan" comedy? I'm viewing it as I would The Zombie Survival Guide: it's hiliarious because it IS taking itself seriously. Now now, I am a graduate of the Leslie Nielson school of deadpan delivery. As are many movie critics. There was nothing in the trailer suggesting they meant it as comedy, black, deadpan or otherwise, hence my Tommy Wiseau reference.

The book wasn't that bad. Historical bunk, but entertaining. I would like to see it.
