I wonder if anyone is curious or looking forward to this movie.
Personally, I'm expecting it to be bad. I read the writer Seth Graeme Smith's 'novel' Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and thought it was terrible.
But what's strange is that I saw the trailer today at the cinema and bizarrely there are no jokes in it whatsoever. The trailer plays it like a completly straight action movie. Seriously, not one joke, not even a funny visual.
Also Lincoln seems to be speaking with an English accent here?

The version I've heard has him speaking in an American one, but otherwise it seems to be a straight action movie (albeit a bad one that will need the Riff Trax treatment).

Maybe it was just a bad dub in the trailer I saw... I actually can't find it on YouTube.
But yeah, is this movie not a comedy? How bizarre. It seems to me like a film with a joke title like that can either be a good comedy, a bad comedy or just a bad movie.

Also Lincoln seems to be speaking with an English accent here? America was a British colony until twenty years before the Civil War, so Lincoln would've grown up around plenty of Redcoats with British accents.

I guess no-one alive has heard him speak but... the man was from Kentucky.
Anyways, this seems to be a moot point since it seems like I just saw a bad dub.

Oooh, I am so very excited to see that movie... not sure why, as the title alone makes it sound cheesy, but... the trailer I saw made it look so good! I can't wait! It is based on the book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and looks like the movie might be taking the story seriously as opposed to silliness. Hopefully.

America was a British colony until twenty years before the Civil War, so Lincoln would've grown up around plenty of Redcoats with British accents. 1783 (Treaty of Paris) is only 20 before 1861 (American Civil War start) now? It was also nearly 30 years before Lincoln's birth, though in all likelihood there would have been some kind of genteel accent in his speech. Also, cheesy movie script aside it looks like my kind of bad cheese. I need to see really cheesy movies every now and again.

I'm probably being too hard on this, since A) I have a grudge with the author and B) I assumed it would be a comedy.

Anyhow, my friend demands that I go see this movie with him, so I guess I will. Judging by pretty much everything that's being released nowadays, it's almost certain that if Hollywood isn't looking for something familiar and marketable to the audience, they're looking for something particularly outrageous in order to get the asses in the theater seats.

Certainly not great literature, but I thought it was a fun summer read, at least... And the only reason I'm excited to see the movie is because some of it's filmed in my hometown. (I was actually planning on auditioning to be an extra in it but had a conflict with another show I was in.) I want to see how they treat my dear Richmond on camera. Other than that, I expect it to be absolutely terrible and on the level of movies like "Cowboys and Aliens" and "John Carter" ;D edit: oh lulz I'm thinking of the OTHER Lincoln movie. Kind of merged them in my mind since one is a pseudo-documentary and one is a biopic. Anyway, I still expect it to be terrible...

I'm not sure about this movie. I haven't read the book, and I don't know much about Lincoln, but I am reaching a vampire saturation point here.

Critics seem to be universally bashing this movie because it's not a comedy, the 3D is badly done, and there are some tasteless comparisons about Gettysburg and vampires in there. Sounds like it does need the Riff Trax treatment.

Well if it takes itself too seriously, THAT's a problem.
It's an absurd idea and concept. It should be getting the Mel Brooks treatment. I can already see the writer saying, "No no no, it is black comedy, Hahahaha, funny story right Mark?" about a year after release.

I'm viewing it as I would The Zombie Survival Guide: it's hiliarious because it IS taking itself seriously.
