After roughly 20 hours of gameplay, consisting primarily of James flirting at (female) Shepard and her glaring at him:
JAMES: Maybe we should get matching! SHEP: You want me to get an 'N7' tattoo? JAMES: Could be N7, sure. or you could get my name... somewhere special... SHEP: You ever gonna make good on all this flirting, James? JAMES: .... SHEP: Well, how about it? JAMES: U... I, uh... well, I... a... SHEP: (laughs) That's what I thought. See you on the Normandy.

Holy flirty tidbits of dialogue, Batman! Where'd you find that gem?
(I still don't understand why they didn't make Vega a romance option. I will never understand. Break me off a piece of THAT kit-kat bar over any of the other ME3-added romances any day.)

Yech. I thought he was, given the muscle bound stupidity.

Holy flirty tidbits of dialogue, Batman! Where'd you find that gem? lol. Yeah I keep hearing bits and thinking, "THAT needs to be preserved for posterity!" And no, Clint - Vega is not romancable. If you're female he will flirt with you about a hundred times and give you the nickname Lola as opposed to Loco, but he will never make good on it. That particular bit is standard for a female shepard during the scene where James gets his tattoo in the docks. Round about the time of the game where you're able to 'lock-in' your romance with the love interest characters, James will confirm here that he was just flirting.

All right, I promise this will be the last one - but I abslutely had to include this in the quotes thread. One of the last possible conversations with Conrad Verner. All of which are awesome.
SHEPARD: Are your family okay? CONRAD: Yeah. I mean, I don't really have any family. I lost some friends, like exteanet friends, but... SHEPARD: What about your wife? CONRAD: Oh! She's fine. SHEPARD: Conrad.... do you even have a wife? CONRAD: Yes! CONRAD: Well, no. SHEPARD: Conrad, if you have some kinda wierd shrine of me I'm going to be very unhappy. CONRAD: It's just a poster and a few candles. SHEPARD: Gah!!!
God bless Jennifer Hale, she actually said 'gah'.

I only got that in one playthrough, but that whole conversation was funny. "If only I had ___" "Here it is" "But I would need ____" "Got that too"

I also love the part where he asks Shepard the same question twice, then says 'I should go'.

Yech. I thought he was, given the muscle bound stupidity. ...see, I feel like there's so much antagonism directed towards Vega, and I don't understand it. His background is at least somewhat interesting (I like the whole plotline about his N7 invitation), he has a good voice actor, and he's got great banter with Shep and with Cortez. A lot of people seem to hate him just because he wasn't an original squadmate from 1 or 2. Me, I always loved stumbling upon him in the Citadel.

I leanred to love him as well. He is funny, the voice actor is a big fan of mass effect so it;s all good. Never forgave him for the Wing Commander movie though...

I think part of the reason is that we all expected to hate Vega, before the game came out. I remember we were all very concerned about Mass Effect dumbing-down, hiring people like Jessica Chobot and installing this enormous muscly guy who looked like he was stolen from Gears of War. We expected Vega to be a pointless, dumb, macho role meant to win over a new audience. Angry Joe, in his infinite wisdom and subdued objectivity, had a long diatribe before the game was out about the 'Jersey Shore-ification' of Mass Effect. One of the many terrible things we all feared, but which never happened. Instead the game surprised us with a compeltely unexpected flaw. I don't think all of us had that moment with James when we realised, "Oh! This is actually a funny, adorable, sweet, interesting and exceptionally well-acted character with a strong part to play in the story."

Oh, oh, oh... new favorite quote!
Garrus to Jane Shepard: "...and if this all ends with both of us dead and a giant explosion, just remember..." *leans in close, flirty* "I took the kill-shot!"
and this wonderful little gem:
Garrus to Jane Shepard: "The scars are starting to fade... I seem to remember they drove you wild. I could always go out and get some more..."

Merrill: This city is amazing! Do you know, I saw someone get mugged? Right outside my door? It was fascinating! Hawke: Someone is jumped outside your door and that's exciting? Merrill: It must be the Alienage greeting. Hasn't happened to me yet, though. *sigh* They must not like me...
I just want a pocket-sized Merrill to carry around with me forever.

I must admit - right now I like it far more than I expected I was going to. The characterizations aren't as good as Origins (and who did away with my sweet, flirty, kitten-loving Anders to make him this brooding, serious guy? Did they change his writer from Awakening to 2 or something?), but I'm still enticed by the plot.
It's the ending everyone tells me I'll hate, though. And I'm not even through with Act I yet.
