So I was just looking at the wiki here - am I right in thinking that Mass Effect 3 has only five squadmates? masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/CharactersI've been avoiding news about ME3, but it's just occured to me that I can only name six (and so can the wiki): Williams / Alenko, Liara, Garrus, Tali and Vega. If that's right, it's quite a surprise after the ten (I think) ME2 squadmates. Or maybe ME3 will have a lot of 'temporary' followers, as we've seen in the trailers and demo? Because I would love for there to be only five.

Fewer squadmates is good. Maybe more character development?

Fewer squadmates is good. Maybe more character development? IMO, I thought ME2 handled developing so many characters rather well. I'm hoping for a lot of temporary companions myself. Hopefully, Thane will be one of 'em.

It was a little shallow for the romance options was pretty lame aside from Garrus and Tali if you were not romancing them. Jacob's was especially bad for a femshep as it seemed like you either tried to jump his bones or shit on him.
Contrast Kaiden, Liara and Ash from ME 1.
They did alright but it could have been scads better with more focus.

Especially by having all of them play a part in the final mission - that was inspired. But I still prefer a smaller group with more depth. The other problem with having a lot of people is that nobody gets used for more than a handful of missions, and you feel like you wasted time picking them all up. What they actually contribute in their relatively brief time with you doesn't justify their epic introdution. Why did we bother risking our lives in a complex scam and then fighting a giant helicopter to get Kasumi, if all she did in return was backstab a few guys on that one mission with the robots, etc. In Mass Effect 2 I always have a couple of people (Samara, Legion) who don't even get used more than twice.

I have a hunch Anderson is gonna be a full squad member, too.
I know he stays behind on Earth, but Shepard apparently returns to Earth at multiple points, there's an achievement that strongly implies it, and I've seen him walking around with Garrus and Shepard in at least one trailer.
Or maybe I'm just hoping a bit too hard. Keith David is the man, after all, and I'd feel cheated if we went through the entire trilogy without him in the squad.

Having Keith David in the squad would be so damn cool.

Man, it would be so cool if Keith David were a romance option.

No. It's Kahlee Sanders, you know the girl from the books? (Which talks about his wife in book 1)
