Someone had stole either a time machine or a WIP film reel. Either way, no offence but I don't think that DA anime will be able to beat over this.

"It appeals to an audience that is willing to tackle more meaty subjects and understand that there's a philosophy, not just the kind of "Hey, there's a bad guy, let's get him!" kind of mindlessness"
All of this over shots of nothing but fighting and stuff exploding, and from the people who perpetrated crimes against humanity like "push a button and something awesome happens!"?

Well, there we have it. Anime can tell complex stories better than traditional animation. Whatever they mean by that. So now we get to watch wuxia style wire fu done by blokes in full plate armour. Honestly to see how western style stories and european medieval settings are going to be portrayed by Japanese animators we should look no further than here for reference.

Look, i like anime just as much as the next guy...the proper one, not the computer bullshit. Hell, I loved AC: Embers, i loved that film to pieces but at least it didn't insult my inteligence like this film seems to do. So this Cassandra and other knights seem to twist and flip around in full plate armour and fighting Darkspawn and stuff....okay....

At least Ubisoft made AC: Embers to say goodbye to a beloved character and possibly set up the next one, so you know, they had a purpose. All BioWare are doing here is making an anime about one of the most insufferable characters in a game full of plenty of very, very insufferable characters.

I watched this movie a few days ago....it's bad. Not OH MY GOD THIS IS HORRIBLE bad, but...pretty bad. Limited character development, Main character Cassandra does nothing for me really and some bits of the plot made me reach for the World of Thedas book I gifted to Misses Gorvar to find out what the hell the characters were talking about. And I know quite a bit of Dragon age lore!
If there is one thing i can say in this film's favour it's this. Cassandra isnt overpowered really, she does get her ass kicked a few times, and the mage guy she is with reminded me of fun guy Anders from Awakening. But thats it.

You should really treat yourself with a box set of A:TLA from the sounds of it. Speaking of which, how's the production? Is the character design and animation are ok? I haven't actually seen the film, so I'm morbidly curious.

Already treating myself with Pacific Rim and Fables Volume 1 when it gets to my mail box...excuse being I miss Misses Gorvar a lot. Reason being I miss Misses Gorvar.
Character design and Animation wise....yeah it aint that good. To be fair I hate CGI anime so I am quite opiniated on the art style. i It switches from stocky movements (think Dragons and Templars) to DBZ antics ( Duels and Cassadra killing dragons). If i can give the animation some credit its in two scenes. In a exposition scene we see an obese and slimey elf ( A nice refreshment from the slender and lanky elves we see in DAO and DAII) and the transformation from Blood mage to Pride Demon was really well done. Also I believe i may have seen a few topless blood mages dancing round a pyre in the beginning buuuut it aint worth the watch really. Anyone can draw boobs really. I'm personally glad we dont see many upskirt shots from Cassandra so come DAI I can see the poor woman in the eye.
TBH Tillian I think its best you check out the trailer with some free scenes you can see on-line, you can judge for yourself.I'm not the best guy you should talk to about animation styles since I focus more on the narrative rather than the visuals really. Although I do hate CGI anime...
