I am new, and would like to post a fanfic. I did have a quick question however, regarding maturity rating. What is or is not allowed regarding language, violence, etc?

In the fanfic section there's a "read me/rules" thread that will tell you the do's and don'ts. Welcome to the site.

I bit of light cussing should be fine. Don't go overboard.
Provide a content warning at the top and be sure to remind Bioware's lawyers you are not taking ownership of anything. That should about cover it.
Welcome to the site and enjoy.

(I'm the moderator.) Well, I'm not sure really. Here are the rules mentioned above. Regarding what constitutes 'excessive' violence, cursing, sexual content etc. - I think it would have to be very excessive to upset us. I can't speak for our admin, but I think she and I are pretty lax about this kind of thing. There is plenty of swearing in the stories and the discussion forums, for example. And Mass Effect's gameplay is mostly shooting people in the chest, so most violence ought to be fine. I think the majority of stories would be fine, as long as you give an appropriate warning at the top of the thread, and a 'T' for teen or 'M' for mature (i.e. 18 years) rating. If there's anything in particular you're unsure about including, feel free to run it by me or the admin, here or by PM. Because now I'm curious.

Thank you for the replies. I just wanted to double check. I can get a little...disturbing at times, in my writing. If I have a scene or content that I feel may push the line I'll PM it to you first to approve before I post it. I will rate the story M anyway, even if it doesn't turn out to be, just to keep my bases covered.
Thank you again!

Bewbs are bad. Bad spelling is worse.

Agreed. But there's something... somehow contradictory about that post.

And if you can somehow out-do me, you're probably in prison.
