Great... I'm really totally screwed this time!
I hope my friend isn't reading this but, she's trying to invite me to her friend's birthday.
Seem fair enough until that friend of her's is the same person she's trying to up set me up to go on a date with him.
I'm sorry but I've really don't think I'll come to his birthday. It's too awkward and I don't want to give him the wrong message that there's still a chance between us. The last thing I want is to jump into a relationship I'm really unsure of it. Besides, I'm still shaken from that set up. I've never felt so... damn pathetic. Setups usually made me feel inferior when it comes to relationships. I know it's cruel but I just want to let me think for myself for once.
There, my pet hate in a long time.

I honestly don't think you're being selfish there - no doubt she's thinking of setting you up again. You're just letting her know you're not interested. Don't feel pathetic - you are awesome.

Awww Tilly you're not pathetic. She's just being a friend. Female friends love to set up their friends on dates it makes them feel happy to make you happy but they don't always realize that you don't get pleasure from the same things. Personally I'd go and enjoy some cake none the less but if you think tis going to give him the wrong impression maybe buying your own cake and eating it at home would be better. At least you'd have the cake to yourself.

I like that idea! Seems like a cool rebellious gesture! Hell, we should all eat some cake.
(I am hungry.)

I ate cake. I made it first then ate it. It was chocolate with cherry conserve in the middle. There was a good reason for the cake though. Daniel didn't do the washing up and I had no pans/baking trays and I was starving and couldn't be asked ot go get take-away. A cake seemed reasonable.
