Is it possible for a demon to exist and wander around in the physical realm (Thedas)? While I've looked up DA wiki and said they cannot without poscessing a body, but what about the other demons you have to fight that are not part of the fade, especially with Kitty from DA:O?
I'm unclear about this, can someone help me clarify this? I'm halfway through chapter 1 atm for Good Demons and I wanted to get the canon mostly right before I post it up on the web. Last thing I need is some angry DA canon tight-ass going down on my like a ton of bricks.

From what I understand (this might need some fact checking), demons can only wander the world in possession of a physical body (humans, elves, and maybe dwarves). The demons that we typically see outside the Fade usually manifest around a tear in the Veil, but I don't think they can go very far beyond that.
And I don't really remember any instances where a demon was found out in the open without blood magic being involved or the Veil being torn. I'll have to think on that, though. Hope that helps at all! =D

You can always go for a cursed object really, i think that's plausible.

Kitty was possessing a body. Just an unorthodox one. That critter was tearing the veil to let others in as well. There were also abominations at the tower. All involved possession at one point or another.
I suppose another playthrough could confirm it but I think my memory is pretty solid on this point.
I think they can live for a short time without a body, but not too long.

Thanks guys, I guess the demon had to inhabit Rose's mortal body instead for the rest of the story. Talking about split personalities!

Linders' memory is correct. Kitty had power in Thedas, but only so long as she took over the girl's cat.

Hmm... I was about to have the demon possessing a Hawk (bird, not that asshat Protagonist.), but for the sake of hilarity, I decided her to share the same body as that human appostate. The question is, what are the unfortunate implication of having a demon inhabiting inside of your own body, besides over riding and turning into an ugly abomination?

Depends on the Demon really. Wynne had basically a friendly demon that made her a really good healer. I won't name the name of another who was possessed by a friendly spirit for fear of starting another fire and brimstone rant.
The kid at Redcliff had a desire demon in him. He stayed in human form maybe because it pleased the demon to stay that way. According to the lore though most spirits from the fade that have an interest in dealing with humans are looking only to experience the physical realm through them. How that is accomplished is up to the individual spirit. The Lore has all manner of gaps regarding fade spirits that do not fall into the classic Sin Demons. So you should have a fair bit of play here Till.

While we're on Dragon Age 2, what the hell is the terrain around Kirkwall supposed to be like? (Legacy seems to say desert...)

I dunno. There is some vegetation near Sundermount, so that explains why the dalish are there, but guessing of the Legacy palce it's pretty rocky.

So you should have a fair bit of play here Till. This is getting more and more interesting. I think I'll make my Desire Demon a true neutral, who only cares about indulging the good food, wine, music and influance her to do snarky things. Doesn't care much about mortal affairs, hence she doesn't dwell on villainy deeds unless it warrants the safety and wellbeing of the host (Rose). Also makes a good rebuttal for one of the templar character they are going to run into later on: "So what if I'm a demon? I didn't tell [Rose] to go and slaughter a bunch of elven children nor tell her to do 'evilly' things. Besides, don't you have better things to do than killing mages, like saving that drawf from 'drowning' over there?"I don't like turning my human protagonist into a blood mage though. Too... emoish, as that demon said to her, "doesn't do good for [Rose's] health." I'm thinking turning her as a Dreamer instead. Unfortunately, I don't think I can make a deconstructive parody of DA2, the lore of Thedas still intriges me, however, I'm still pulling a few strings on the fridge logic in the DA series, whenever I see something that it's flimsy.
