Glow if it's bothering you so much, just use the cheats like I do. Type: ` Then type this: player->setlongblade 100 *enter* Or whatever weapon skill you desire.

Cali - How did you know my motto was "When all else fails... cheat!" Actually, it's closer to "When all else is failing and/or you are tired of paying attention ... cheat."

This is the problem with stats heavy action RPGs. You can see your weapon pass right through the target and still misses.
I think Oblivion was even weirder because it gave you feedback that the weapon hit but then there is still no damage. It never looks sillier than when you shoot critters repeatedly with a bow and low archery skill. I mean how many arrows to the left eye does it take to kill a wolf anyway?

Well it depends on your appropriate weapons kill, not on how you hit the target, so yeah. That's how it IMO should be in RPGs, as opposed to FPSes and Hack'n'Slash.
Too bad they abolished weapons kills in ME2...
Morrowind gave the impression of subjectively being larger than it is by having all paths being winded and uneven like hell. That's great the first time you play, but gets annoying in every replay. Still, better than Oblivion's level of miniaturisation... though Oblivion's fast travel was actually a good idea. They could have tweaked it a bit, like having random encounters, but it's principally a good idea.

Only one thing: She swore to aid Shepard for the remainder of Shepard's.... what was it, purpose? How long does that last? I imagine she'll be back for some facet of the game.

She always felt tacked on to me. I wouldn't miss her if she was gone. Her oath gives her all manner of flexibility to decide when she leaves. And just how long was she going to put up with renegade Shep? Not very I'm thinking.

I just think it's funny that she has the same name as my mom's poodle.

The DOG's name was Samara......
Honestly I loathed Samara. Bioware is just better than that, frankly - a sexualised rip-off Jedi with more power than the police and no 'human' qualities with which to explore the concept (which itself was already done to death by Shepard, Saren and the Spectres). There were some nice lines where she talked about her sadness in hunting Morinth, and these were voice-acted VERY well, but it was all so stupid to begin with. She's a half-nude, emotionless biotic 'warrior', murdering everyone she sees through an unquestioned holy writ and hunting her daughter, who is a hypnotic sex vampire... could this not have been in Dragon Age instead? Some of these are good ideas that coul have given us a nice image of the asari, but Samara is so much, so fast and so OTT that it's just disorienting and ridiculous. I also rather liked the concept of having Morinth onboard posing as Samara - but again nothing came of it, no effort seemed to have been put into making that credible or a part of the story / the characters. Morinth herself was barely a character at all.
I would hope that Samara / Morinth plays very little part in Mass Effect 3.

Of all of the fabulously well-rounded characters there are in the ME universe, I'm guessing that the not-so well-rounded Jacob and Samara are the least likely to return. As for me, I just want Legion and Joker back.

Ahhh Jacob was fine, I thought. Just dull - hell, he was like the anti-Samara! He was a completely ordinary soldier, and for that reason he seems odd in Shepard's company.
I must say, I didn't care for Legion much. I never really had enough time with him to figure out who he was or what the hell he was talking about. I found it very hard to believe that Shepard would allow a live geth onboard though!

Legion was awesome dude. I think its the way he talks. Its eery but soothing. And he's very neutral and level headed. Two valuable traits to a person like Shepard. Not to mention the fact that's he's sort of an ambassador to the entire Geth, uh, nation(?) And, you know, immune to disease, radiation, the vacuum of space ect. And if you need something hacked (an obstacle an intergalactic James Bond might find in his way quite often) you couldn't ask for a better ally. And he has valuable knowledge on the Reapers. Well, sort of. I'm guessing the Geth are holding out, it seemed that way. Admittedly his late introduction was really lame and kind of pointless. Especially since you only had like 2 missions to do after getting him. Also I thought Samaras skin was pretty. Like blue Gak with glitter in it. Her character just wasn't very well thought out. Luckily I'm easily distracted. Morinth made me LOL on more then one occasion. Especially in the bar talking about her interests. Its sort of like Jack in how they tried to make her dark but were clueless as to what 'dark' means. Making her seem like a spoiled goth chick mad because she can't afford the latest in buckle/zipper/black lace dresses at Hot Topic. I had to kill Samara off any way because she threatened Renegade Shepard. NO ONE threatens me, I mean Shepard!
