Contrary to my posts in the I'm Drunk thread, it's actually been nigh-on six months since I've had an akkyhol.
Incidents of early morning feelings of guilt and self-loathing are down, levels of waking up to discover I've said and done embarrassing shit still disconcertingly even.

Good to hear, buddy.
Ever since switching meds I've been consuming wayyy less. I was knocking back around eleven beers, or half as many shots of whiskey a day in 2013.
Being loaded feels really good, but it ain't got nothing on being happy and sober.

Still not drinking, but I still gravitate towards the drink whenever I go into the supermarket, like it's that fucking door from Metro 2033.

If you think about it, Jim Carrey now is basically the real life version of Kratos from the PS4 version of God of War.
I bet if there was a situation dire enough to call for it, he could totally go into his little art studio and pull out his manic, rubber-faced persona from 199X to about Bruce Almighty and raise some hell.

I believe in being true and honest about having a drinking problem, but it really does piss me off that every time the fact I don't drink comes up, the vast majority of people respond to me saying "Oh, I don't drink" with "Why?".
Fighting back the urge to say "Because I think it's fucked up everyone in this country relies on the bottle to tolerate life." a lot lately.

That's the most unironically touching and profound thing you've made on this site Glow... wow.

It's a serious problem and it perturbed me before I even stopped drinking. To quote the IT Crowd, the English really do "drink like (we) don't want to live".

I've been on the wagon going on several months now. I occasionally have nights where I go on benders, but it's not constant and pathological like it used to be.
Sobriety is actually... way better than I thought it would be.
