Signed. I agree that veterans aren't getting the respect they deserve upon their return. Thank you, Clint... your signing is appreciated I just don't understand why veterans would even have to fight legal battles to get what they deserve after risking their lives to defend our countries and our rights. Really. Why can't they just... come home, and be promptly and properly compensated for their courage and everything? You grossly overestimate how politicians feel about us, Lily. Many of them think of us as expendable and only pay lip service to us. It just seems to me (quoting Jon Stewart here) that if the government tries to do something truly good for others, they have the management abilities of a cat chasing a laser pointer, but if they decide they want something for themselves, they're motherfucking Iron Man. @iron: I agree with you there that lip service is given - it looks to me as if soldiers are treated well when they are on their way to a war-zone, and veterans and soldiers are paid respect on Rememberance Day (in Canada - I believe the same day is Veteran's Day in America), but not often enough and not on a permanent post-return support basis. I may be misunderstanding, or missing something, but... given how I've been hearing my cousin is still having so many problems, it... doesn't look good. Treating our returning soldiers with respect, caring and support should not be a legal thing - it should be a given. It should just... be. I will never understand how a soldier can be considered expendable - they're all putting their lives on the line to defend their country, and their people, and this needs to be recognized by the people in power.

Signed it and shared it on Facebook and Twitter. It's shameful that our veterans in the United States are not thoroughly rewarded for their services.

Thanks, Nord Ronnoc!
This petition was actually started by a Canadian woman (my cousin) whose husband was a Canadian Soldier severely injured in Afghanistan 7 years ago, and is still fighting to try to get the compensation owed to him.
They also had to fight to get proper medical support after his return to Canada... he's still suffering from brain damage and PTSD and we feel that not enough is being done to help him, or other veterans who need help.
The sad thing is, it's happening in the USA too - and in both cases, the soldiers and veterans deserve better.

How many signatures so far lily? Up to 115 now! I took it to work and sent it to everyone in my office - and it jumped by over 50 new names in a couple hours! Ah, the benefits of a large call center... ;D Thanks again to everyone here for their kind words and signatures... it is really appreciated... I just hope this works and gets results for my cousin and the other veterans...
