Hello Everyone.
I hope I don't come across as too presumptous here, but this is an issue that really upset me today when my mother revealed the details to me...
Within the last few days, I posted on a different thread about my cousin who was injured in Afghanistan 7 years ago, but in that thread I was not fully aware (from having not been given a lot of details) just how bad things are now for him.
I found out today from my mother that he's recently been denied financial support that is owed to him (and the same damn thing is happening to so many other Canadian veterans) and this is wrong.
These men and women are being sent overseas into warzones and they come back broken if they come back at all, and then are abandoned by the system that should be helping them recover.
My cousin's wife (actually, his wife is my cousin through being the daughter of my mother's sister; the soldier is my cousin by marriage) wrote out this petition to try to draw attention to this abuse of our soldiers' hard work and sacrifice, and I wonder if I could bring it to the attention of this fine forum - to not only get the word out about what's going on, but also maybe to get a few more signatures.
I'm sure my family (and the families of all the other soldiers and veterans who are affected by this) would appreciate getting this word out and hopefully getting something changed so our good men and women of the Canadian Military won't suffer being ignored and abandoned anymore.
Thank you.
P.S. I hope this same thing is not happening to American veterans when they come home; and if it is, then something needs to change there too.
