C is unlikely seeing as EA has a hate on for Steam and Valve at the moment.
The folks at Gamebanshee would probably burn their headquarters down at A knowing full well they would ruin it in their current state. So let's hope for B

If it's B, I'll download it in a heartbeat. It would be a great excuse for me to have a look at that game.

I should also mention that licensing D&D games right now is an absolutely mind boggling mess. Or at least it was not too long ago. This is a big part of the reason why games using that RP system are suddenly becoming more scarce. Baldur's Gate is a D&D setting at it's core and I don't think a whole lot of Devs want to scuffle with Wizards of the Coast for the rights. Fine by me really. It's great for pen and Paper but unnecessarily clumsy for gaming.

If I remember correctly, Atari currently holds the video game license for D&D, which would include the Forgotten Realms and, by extension, Baldur's Gate. So it's very, very likely that BioWare no longer has any say in whatever's going on with this new BG mystery project, just as Obsidian no longer has the rights to Star Wars or Fallout anymore.
So it might just be Atari re-releasing the games in some form, which is cool, but gog.com has already had these available for some time now. So they'd have to do something interesting with it to justify me buying it from someone other than gog.
I hope it's a HD remake of some kind. With all these other games getting remade, I'm astounded some of these other games aren't getting the treatment. xD

Atari? *snickers* Yeah they got the publishing rights but they are not a dev house. They would have to outsource and somehow find someone not Bioware to do it. Obsidian isn't interested. They've already had a taste of how mind bogglingly stupid Atari is. Most reputable gaming houses know better than to touch those creeps. They are like the creepy uncle of the gaming world. No one knows why they are still hanging around but your parents still tolerate them anyway.
They would have to throw some kind of bone to EA. Regardless of who owns the rights, Baldur's Gate and Bioware go together like hand and glove. A very good case could be made on both sides and it could get messy.

This and a "Complete Collection" coming soon to Steam? I'm pretty excited for this! I never got to play through the original games, so I'd be more than willing to give them a try now.

Wasn't really able to get into Baldur's gate II. I hated the interface.
If the HD remake fixes that then maybe I might give it another try.

Okay, resurrecting an old thread here.
I've never really played Baldur's Gate. Every time I download it, this inevitably happens:
* Speedrun through the starting area, which is Lumbridge, without the satisfaction of being able to hurl insults at real people while they fish for shrimp. * Set out with proto-proto-Tali, normally as a Wizard who's apparently been training his whole adolesence but needs a nap after casting one spell. There are more wolves on the road than in all of Tamriel. * Meet up with those two guys who don't outright say they're evil, but their accents, race and the word "Evil" on their character sheets subtly imply they are. Join up with em. * Get to that second town, meet up with those two other people. * Wander around aimlessly looking for sidequests until someone gets hit by a wolf and explodes.
Does anyone have any advice for someone just starting up? Things to do, what difficulty to play on and so forth?
