Nice! I enjoyed your reviews of The Expendables and Toy Story 3 (I'd prefer it if nobody ever brought up the incinerator scene again, though.)
Keep at it and who knows, you might be writing a review of the Mass Effect movie in a few years! ;D

But I think theres just too much that could go wrong, so I'd like to see Hollywood leave Mass Effect alone.

Very nice reviews! (But you are completely, completely wrong about The Expendables).
I agree with you on Mass Effect though. I just can't see it ending well.

Ill take that as a challenge. I know taste in movies varies from person to person, but I still can't see any redeeming qualities in the Expendables. Tell me one good thing about that movie. Just one.

Great reviews, man!
I will agree that The Expendables was definitely over the top but... what else was it supposed to be?!

Dolph Lundgren fighting Jet Li. This is one of many! I don't think it was a great movie, barely a good one, but I'd never call it bad either. The whole joy of the movie was the OTT qualities, the silliness, it was an homage to 80's/90's action flicks that sometimes wanted to be one and sometimes wanted to be a send-up. A little disjointed, a little too CG, very thin on plot and that bit with Jason Statham winning his girlfriend's heart by beating up his rivals was appalling - but it was very very nostalgic, and good indulgent fun.

I'll agree with you, up to the point where its nostalgic about classic action films. It had none of the qualities of the action classics of the 80's and 90's, save for some aging actors on their way out. Classic action films were over the top, but over the top for a purpose. John McClane had to drop the C4 down the elevator shaft and blow up some people, because if he didn't, the terrorists win. In the Expendables, they are on a mission that involves lots of killing because.... Well, just because. Also, heres my latest review: Inception. fronksreviews.blogspot.com/2011/04/inception-2010.html

I liked Other Guys. I thought Ferrell was less weird.

I can't agree with this one for many reasons I could rant about for hours. Have you ever read the comic the film was (loosely) adapted from? If not, I'd suggest you do. Personally, I like it even more than Moore's opus, Watchmen.

If you liked the movie, you'll probably like the comic even more. It's actually about something, and not just a heavy handed jab at the Bush administration.

I definitely have it read it someday, I've heard very good things about the comic. Plus, I'm a bit of a political outcast, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
