9th October 2010-Want to go for lunch? -I'll get a Subway. -That's going for lunch. I'll go with you. -No. I need to go... alone. -What, are you going to face the Trials of the Lord of the Thundercats? Let me come with you. I mean like, as a couple. Is it still a 'date'? -Sometimes. Yesterday I was at McDonalds and I noticed so much. -Noticed. -If you were there, I would have seen the Looney Tunes thing and not written anything. Just tried to impress you with nostalgic jokes. -So I don't inspire you? -No. All we do is talk. --- Oh! Tomorrow is 10/10/10! I wonder if I can come up with some sort of Ten-themed entry. You have Subways? Seriously? I'm sorry. Togo's makes WAY better subs. Hell, just about anybody else besides Subway does.

lol!
Yes, we have Subways. Loads of them.
But I've actually never eaten at one. The conversation in the entry never hapenned xD
Those places are much too complicated for me. I don't know what's going on at Subway.
---
EDIT: Wait a minute - that was my 3,333rd post!!

I'm all about the Oven Roasted Chicken Sammich! >=D
I love Subway. A buddy of mine works at one in Germany, of all places. They actually keep some of the insanely stupid names we give some of those sandwiches.

Your local Subway has to be way better than average. I tried continuing with the fiction, but it sucked so I junked it. Kind of makes me wonder how next month will go at this rate.

I was at New York Comic-Con today and didn't get my October 8 entry in time, but submitted it anyway after writing it on the midnight train back.
October 8
Mickey pulled her pink hat down further into her forehead and wondered if the one of the cat ears that kept flopping over had flopped. She pretended to be browsing a pile of plushies as Carl's voice came muffled through her Bluetooth.
"There's an oni dressed as a businessman headed toward the artists alley."
"Don't panic," she muttered, "but it's right behind me." The crowd pressed around her.
"Crap. Initiate a system seventy-seven. It's a class three."
"I'll do what we're here to." Mickey said. She slipped the poster tube out of her belt loop. "I'll save New York."
October 9
There is a stone in Central Park, cracked and gray, and a little girl sitting on it, tucked against the warmth of summer granite. It is a solid friend, however much it thinks only of the fossils it once held and the winters it will endure. It was chiseled away at once, and men took its parts and cataloged them for the museum. It rolled down from the Catskills, and people built a city around it, and then realized that they needed the grass and gave it back something of its natural habitat: the park. It is her only embrace.

I am already having serious trouble thinking of premises - I think I will have November 'off' and come back in December!
Nemo, I love te Comic-Con one. Also - why do you get to go to all these cool conventions?

9 October 2010
You don't roll a spot check to search a body.
What?
I was commenting on your apparent inability to look around the room.
Shut up.
You shut up; you're the one who sucks.
Yeah, well I wasn't the one who filled the room with mist during the last fight. That affects our attacks, too, you invalid!
I know. I was there, you dolt.
Really? Were you? I wouldn't know, because I couldn't see anything but the nose on my face in all that fog.
Would have died otherwise.
We did die!
Would have died faster otherwise.
Whatever, just roll.

Knight, you're on a roll!....(Pun.) For real, that one was very funny.
Buch, this has been a year unusually full of cons for me! I've gone to NYCC for the last three years or so because it's only an hour away, and Celebration...well, I'd been wanting to go basically since I heard the things existed. ^_^ I just saved up and was determined. XD

Just screwing around with a NaNo plot idea for this one (which was written a few hours ahead because I'm working the next two days). The inspiration is due partly to "The Kraken Wakes", and one of my recent nightmares:
10-10-10
We don't like to go outside much anymore, especially when the sun goes down. The girl and me, we sometimes brave the tunnels to my friends' hideout just before the sewers. With enough candles, we can fool ourselves into thinking it's just like the old days, back before she came here. The meteors came down soon after her. That's why we play D&D, to forget. Most of the locals are dead and those who aren't, well... that's why we're here isn't it? The last of the homo sapiens. That's us. We didn't even go out with a bang. Weird, huh?
(Looking at the above entries, it's probably amusing that the writing flunky of the bunch is the one who's aiming to write a book next month. I'm sure the end result will be entertaining, in a "Holy shit what a train wreck" kind of way.)

What's with the D&D theme lately? My contribution:
10th October 2010
Once Barry had finished sealing the radgards, the group removed their masks and breathed the safe air.
Max, Cormac and Moira sat close together inside a grey shack in the long-since pillaged Chicago deadzone. They had gathered everything the raiders left behind.
'All right,' Barry said, opening the tattered monster manual. 'So you guys are set upon by orcs.'
'This game is fuckin' ridiculous, man. The hell is an orc?'
'It's like a Night Terre. See?' Barry flipped the faded papers over, covering the text with a finger.
'Oh. Oh yeah, that... actually looks just like a Night Terre.'

My poor and entirely intentional contribution to the post-apocalyptic nerdery genre (for srs I'm sorry this is so much worse than the rest):
October 10
We pretend they're still around. We line up for autographs, we gather as many people as we can for swap meets. I stayed in line for hours to cheer for a picture of George Lucas. Meeting with people in line was something to do, and maybe a way to survive. Creators were taken by the swamp just as equally as fans. We've still got the superheroes inside. Somebody hangs up a tattered poster of the Flash and we say "welcome to Comic-Con 2117" and we keep a lookout for the muckbreathing fester-beasts that came to inhabit our world.

I managed to post mine first at 100words, cleverly disguising the fact that I completely stole it from Chantress. Incidentally, it looks like the site will let you post an entry before the day begins in their time zone after all. I posted mine at about 2AM my time, just to see if it would work.

Uh, my entry was still the weakest of the bunch. Their "day" begins at 12 a.m. EST, actually (meaning I can usually post mine at 11:05 p.m. CST). Edit: Although that means... oh hell, I'm crap with math and time zones. Never mind. All I know is that I'm one hour behind my folks back east, and two ahead of the West Coast relatives.
