This is the first year where I totally forgot about 9/11. Coincidentally, it's also the first year when no one made a crazy production out of it.
Those "Never Forget" banners didn't help!
Ah, well. Seems it's going the way of Pearl Harbor Day now. ><

Interestingly I also forgot all about September 11th. Just after talking to you last night Knight, I realised that it was the 12th and I'd missed it. I am surprised at you, though! Seems like the sort of thing you'd know.
That's true, "7/7" is barely remembered, which is wrong. I hate calling it "7/7" though. Somehow it seems wrong to me that great tragedies have punchy little names. I always remember that day because it happenned on my birthday. That year I had a pretty rubbish birthday, I can tell you.

Same here. Although I've half forgetten it. I've still remember vaguely but I was wondering "why today seems to be feeling odd..."
Anyways over here, people didn't make too much a fuss about it strangely enough, despite a couple of aussie people died out there at the time.

... I don't even know what 7/7 is.
I was aware of the significance of yesterday, but didn't commemorate it. I daresay I sound callous, but the way I see it, if we have a moments silence for every time something terrible happened, we'd never be able to say anything again.

I actually never remembered 9/11 after it happened, but I forget my own birthday sometimes.
I remember what went down on 7/7 because I was really close to one of the sites and I thought my friend Teo was at Edgware but she'd luckily missed her bus and arrived late so she was fine but it took me 18 hours just to get through to her phone because all the lines were going crazy at the sheer volume of calls. 7/7 really is a cheesy name.

I just found it ironic that I forgot 9/11, even though it was our justification for literally every clusterfuck we've been involved in since. Morbidly ironic, would be the correct term. And I remember the 7/7 bombings in England, but I didn't know it had a name like that. 7&7 is a popular mixed drink over here. =O

Peace day was create a few years ago the BBC did an awesome documentary on it following the guy who spent all his time and money getting the day recognized. Its a day that all nations and religions vowed to put down there arms and not fight on. I think its September 7th... however it got recognized as an official holiday on a really bad year and people went warring except there was at least one good story about a Taliban infested area where the terrorists actually put down there arms for the day and let all the aid workers in to vaccinate a lot of children. It was considered a really big success from that point.

Procreation day was a day that the Russians decided to to take off work to procreate in order to rise the population. If a child is born in a certain time range 9 months later I think the parents get some cash from the government. It started in 2007.
Don't take what I said as fact but it is a real day in Russia.
