Hodster, if this cheers you up... I haven't finished Buldur's Gate 1 and 2 >.< I'm rummaging through my box of collections of old games *cough cough*. I'll be playing that once I finish Jade Empire.
Btw Rascarin in regaurds to Dawn Star, I blame both the electron engine, crappy modeling on her and the dated generation graphics that made her looked like she's staved herself.
So far I'm up to chapter 3 but I was about to pick Silk Fox just for lols but then something rubs me the wrong about her... so I picked Sky instead cause it's fun to have him around. (Black Wirlwind not with standing.)
Another thing I've noted that I've heard someone said once that Mark Meer voiced acted as Sky. If that's true then WTH happened in Mass Effect?
Before I logged off for now, You've mention NWN Rascarin.... That gave me a nostelgia tear. I have a good time playing that game even though it's a little tad linear but the mods are fun to mess around with. That's what made me hook. However I have no love for NWN2 though.
I didn't like Bishop because he a psychotic bastard without any sort of 'amusing' charm. He's other than the 'guy' who fills the role with being the "Draco in Leather Pants'. If he's a bit more on the lines like Atton Rand then I might give a look. Same goes to Casavir. God, he's such a pansy paladin. God, wake and smell the daisy. I didn't romance any of them for the sake of my sanity.
And one more rant before I go in reguards to NWN2, The main factor why that game kills me a bit because the main campain sucked. The stroyline is slightly better than NWN1 orginal but the characters and some of the missions killed me. The only character I've enjoyed in the party is that dwarf guy and Sand. That's basicly it, even that gnome guy gives me the shits...
Also I hate the interface in the toolset for NWN2 so far. It's much more fiddly than NWN1. I would be more forgiving if it weren't for the fact that Obsidian stated that "This toolset will be more user friendly than NWN1." Well my foot! I can't even get through the basic interface that well, let alone importing coding or coding and such. Even some of my friends who are more saving the coding in the department than I am, are really bitching NWN2 toolset to death.
----
Oooh! Speaking of Midgets, I've created another character concept in my head yesterday for my Empires in Fragments Lore. I'm not going to say it much but once I've drawn a decent rought sketch, i'll let you guys take a look. You'll be surprised where this idea came from...
Muhahahahaha!!!!!!!

Curses! Bioware did again! I'm so frothing my rage with lots of profanity THIS time for REAL!!!! *asdfghjklsdgfmsgmsrmgg....* I've checked the official forums today and they announced another video about Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 on GTV this week. Ugggghhh.... Damn it, must not get into the hype.... OH crap! ---- Back to our accademic discussion about Mark Meer's voice in ME, Jade Empire and the other BioWare games. I'm not if I'm right if that's really Mark Meer playing as Sky but I did see his name in the credits, I swear. If it's true then He might have been either uncofortable voicing as a gruff marine or that he's isn't that good playing as a marine. And btw, bad news to those who like Jade Empire: I've snarked it into a MST throughout my play through. Don't get me wrong. This game is awesome and it's one of those few games that faithfully follows most of the tropes of a classical Wuxia genre... well minus the flying ships and golums but still that's all good. Unfortunately that's when the hyperspeed hammer hits the head on me. You see. I'm Wuxia buff. I know almost all the cliches and tropes about the genre itself due to my mother who used to sits and watches wuxia films with me throughout my chilhood. Yes that means the typical delicate flower maiden persona like Dawn Star, etc, etc. Still a very good game but being a wuxia buff, I have fun pointing out and recongising the tropes. It's becoming a fun mini-game for me. xD

I checked imdb, which indicates that Mark Meer is only an additional roles voice; and lists Sky with a man called "Cam Clarke" (who i believe is the News announcer in ME, as well as Kono Nolan and a few Sith in KotOR).
And I agree about NWN being better than NWN2. 2 could've been SO much better, but its like they couldn't be bothered for half of it. There was too many chronically underdeveloped companions, animations are lazy, the romance options are abominable... the whole game let me down. If they'd just developed the NPC's better, I wouldn't mind nearly as much. Characters like Grobnar and Qara were just boring, which is a shame, because with a little effort, they could have been really interesting (especially Qara; its like they almost had a background for her, but then couldn't be bothered to finish it).
Despite how much I disliked NWN2, I must say, it redeemed itself in spectacular style with Mask of the Betrayer. It took everything I hated about 2, and removed it. I liked all the characters in MotB, and the storyline was just so damn good. I can barely believe they are the same game, considering how good MotB is in comparison.
Storm of Zehir, however, was an absolute abomination of a game. I predicted every single plot "twist", and finished it in a couple of hours. Gameplay was hideous, and the ending was (for lack of a better term) complete bollocks.

Ah, thanks for clarification Rascarin. Still I wonder why bioWare is not letting Cam Carke to play the first fiddle for ME though?
I might give another shot with NWN2 with the expansion, but when the price is a slightly a little more lower. Also, I always suspect SoZ is going to be shithouse since the previews of it, so yeah.
TBH, Obsidian should get their act together and clean up their own flaws and mess if they want to step out of BioWare's shadow. So far atm, they sre stuck in due to their own flaws. I'm even still skeptical with their upcomming game...

I've checked the official forums today and they announced another video about Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 on GTV this week. Really? It's at times like this when I wish that I still had the G4 channel.

Oh yeah Cam Clarke! He was also the gatekeeper in the Undercity outcast village. Trelwyn? Of the outcast village? I think it was Trelwyn. Also I think he was Student Si Pat.
Yes come to think of it where was Cam Clarke in Mass Effect?

News announcer and the VO for the encyclopeida of ME.
So yeah, I think we have a new random encounter system here in Jade Empire. Ghosts popped out from nowhere. WTH!!!!
Least the combat system is fun. Still, that doesn't mean I won't get rickrolled. I swear my kung-fu ass is being kicked around a lot in this game.

News announcer and the VO for the encyclopeida of ME. Oh... yeah. I have a short memory... The combat is fun in JE isn't it? It gets a bit samey, but I like the various different styles. Horse Demon was a favourite. What I really like about that game is the music. That one big dramatic piece they have really stirrs up my blood.

Yeah the music is pretty awesome, especially if it's based off the traditional chinese instuments and style.
Atm I'm kinda fond of Legendary Style. It's gives me a good nostelgia feel of the good wuxia films I've used to watch with my mum, like the Heroes of the Condor Trilogy. god, that made me shed a tear a bit.
*sniffle sniffle*

I like Legendary style too. Sadly I know literally nothing about the wuxia genre. I must remember to look up some films when I can.
And I just remembered my favourite thing from Jade Empire. I think ony 'Wu the Lotus Blossom' does this, but during fights, she has the finest battle-cry I ever heard. "Die - quietly!"

I didn't like the combat in JE so much, but that might be because I only ever used the same two styles; Leaping Tiger and Longsword...

Ah Jade Empire. I refused to sell that game with my xbox and the others. My hubby mumbled and moaned at me about it for weeks but I don't care. I'd rather have the game to play it for nostalgia reasons than the £1.25 in credit note at Game station. I had a convo just rescently with a friend about the game actually where he told em it was possible to hook up with Dawn Star and the silk fox at the same time. I have vowed to play the game through again until I accomplish this! My hubby however doesn't like Jade Empire. He couldn't even make it past the school... he's such a stubborn light weight. If it doesn't involve pounding something, shooting or curb stomping he won't play it. Then again he loves Kameo.... yes his taste is officially a lost cause.
Oh I'm still not back! I'm at my mothers and I fixed her old computer. Its now purring like a well trained kitten. Amazing that... all i ahd to do was wipe all the virus' and junk mail she'd been saving (And promising me she hadn't been for the last year) containing the virus' and it works! I seriously need to just refuse to fix computers for her. She always breaks them and lies to me about it... I've got her a new one at the moment so hopefully she won't kill it in the enxt eyar but I won't hold my breath. I have the feeling I'll be back down at x-mas fixing something!
