Zipper broke on my leather jacket yesterday. I'm not sure if it can be replaced without destroying it but the damn thing is my only cold weather jacket and it is far colder now than it ever was in January. I gotta call a few tailors and see if any of them are comfortable with working with leather. It's hard to even find a hard shell leather jacket like I have and I would rather not lose it now.

$70.00 tax included. That's how much it's going to cost to fix my jacket. That's assuming I don't want it expedited in the middle of winter when I (strangely ) cannot find a winter coat even on clearance because winter ended for retail about 3 months ago and they are starting to stock spring wear.
yeah, I'm fairly disgusted. On the positive side they can fix it, I'll just have to freeze for several days and pay money that I really don't have to do it.

Now the temp has dropped about 10 degrees and that lake in the street out front will be a sheet of ice within hours from now....

My brother helped me move this weekend and I promised him $15 for his help. I had every intention of honoring this commitment, but I got busy preparing a Lasagna today and forgot to collect the final $10 from the bank. When he reminds me tonight, he gets up on a high horse and announces that he has never failed to pay me when he said he would pay me. Meanwhile his phone bill is due and he owes me $29 himself.
Oh and during dinner he was spouting off how considerate and sage conservatives are when debating, how they always only use the facts. When challenged on this, he got frustrated. *le sigh*

Hey guys, remember that rain I mentioned three days ago that flooded my street? Well, we had a three day long cold snap and counting and now every sidewalk, driveway and street in Halifax is a skating rink. I could have made a case last week for incompetent snow removal but this shit is utterly impossible to deal with. Public works has all but declared that nothing short of an act of God (ie warm weather/rain) will clear this up.
I could not get out safely yesterday to dig my mother's car out of ice and the conditions were the same this morning so I am not going to work. Snow clearing out where work is, is mindblowingly bad so even if I could get to the area of work safely I doubt that I could get from the bus stop to work without breaking some kind of limb.
Now I got to somehow explain this to work even though as i speak the sun is coming up and it looks like it's going to be a nice day.
Edit
Wow, the manager on duty sounded a little bitter when I told him I was iced in. He said me and everyone else. I can only imagine the mess i will eventually walk into.

Pet hate: Forgetting about my car payment, which just dropped my bank account like a haymaker. I'll be over here re-heating my dress shoes if you need me.

The much vaunted new bus transit system changes in Halifax have been revealed. It's great if you live just about anywhere but the Dartmouth?Cole Harbour side as Lily and I do. My preferred express bus to work has vanished locally and been re-tooled to the point where it's only useful to people who live in the old city of Halifax (who have access to their own shopping) to go to the retail area i work in. I fully expect ridership there to drop like a stone. Meanwhile Dartmouth has lost a vital North/South route (there were only three to begin with) in favour of yet another east/west one (of which there are over 15). *facepalm*
Some of their ideas are great. trying to simplify the routes and remove redundancy are good goals. But it's really just a paint job that changes little. So instead of 3 bus number going the same direction for 80% of the route with branches at the end we have bus number A, B or C doing the same damn thing at different points *cue slow clap for changing absolutely nothing in favour of making things confusing* Halifax predictably gets all the good ergonomic changes while the rest of HRM gets the shaft for their convenience.
None of this makes any kind of sense to you guys as the local geography means nothing to you but I felt a need to rant over this.
Hopefully I can get to work on the mostly cleared sidewalks now without my ankles twisting on jagged ice like soft toffee. Hopefully i do not get in shit over missing work yesterday. But if I can't go across Dartmouth to help my own mother, then work doesn't stand a chance.

Novacain. Sure, it's handy for dental procedures, but when it impedes your ability to talk, feel your nose, or operate your right eyelid, it's a frigging pain in the ass.
And of course today is the day when I have dog food deliveries and rescue transport duties to do. I sound ah-MAY-zing on the phone right now.

I got out of work today too. Waaay too much snow. LOL I've had that much in ice on the ground recently, which is a hell of a lot more dangerous to drive on. My family can't even see the road from their houses in New England. Your state is a bunch of wusses if *that* amount keeps people indoors.
