*nods*
This beauty ideal for women really messes up people's heads. It's huge problem.

There are other reasons for a person to become anorexic, though. Not just a warped sense of beauty.

Yeah illness or disorder is another that plagues them.

But that far thin isn't normal for most degenerate illnesses that I know of.

My mum had anorexia a few years back. She got to the stage where the doctors gave her two weeks to live before she would've died of multiple organ failure. It's hard to explain, especially as I don't fully understand myself, but for her it was more of a control thing.
It had been a pretty rough time (at the time); she had split up with my dad, was raising three kids more or less alone, her parents were horrible to her (and so on, and so forth). In the end, the only thing she had any control over was what she ate. Keeping her weight down was her way of coping. I think her weight was, at its lowest, 5 stone 2 pounds (32.7 kg). It had nothing to do with being thin; it was everything to do with that number, and getting it lower. She would weigh herself obsessively, over and over again.
She's better, now. She managed to bring herself around after she realised she WOULD die if she didn't start eating normally. She still has a few leftover health problems from it, and we still can't keep scales in the house.
Most people don't realise that anorexia is an actual mental illness as well as a physical one, and doesn't just affect silly teenage girls and self-obsessed models.
