Hey guys! please, dont get up.I know you love me but you dont have to worship me...well okay, you can a little. This is not a new fanfic story and if the admins wanna move this they can, put hear me out first and you can see why i placed this here.
So me and Buch were talking and with the Citadel DLC behind us I got thinking. Back when I was a kid I kept creating self-insert characters so i could pretend to join in with m favourite cartoons or movies. something i still do from time to time. Guilty pleasure.
So when I watch some Mass Effect cutscenes or whatever, i cant help but create a character in my mind and wonder how he/she would react. Enter Luke Boone, the space cowboy. I did a fanfic before with him and it was alright before i moved on to other stuff. But since Mass Effect is done, at least for the trilogy, we pretty much know now how the story goes.
So what I suggest here is the guiltiest ( and saddest if you wanna be a jerk...looking at you Meironmaiden) suggestion ever.
What if everyone who wants to uses this topic to come up with a self-insert character who can be a squad member or a side quest npc and wants to show everyone. I'm talking about character bio's, skills, class, dialogue, quests, where he/she debuts in the series, relationship between other characters and Maleshep/Femshep. We can use the review thread down below to give comments and feedbacks.
I'll be posting Luke Boone soon but if anyone else wants to join in, they can. So far the run down is
Name: Luke Boone Race: Human Looks: Cowboy ( like the Smuggler in The Old Republic opening cinematic) Role; Squad mate ( Me2 and Me3) Class; Soldier/ Gun Slinger (specialised in side arms) Afflication; Corsairs (former) Romancible: Yes ( Femshep) Appears; Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3. Strengths: Good at gunplay, knows how to fly a shuttle, has Corsair connections which can hook Shepard up with resources ( Me2) or ships ( Me3). Weaknesses: anti-authority and has a liking for liquor. Trivia; Speaks with a accent and has been geneticly modified to have quick reflexes which explains why he can shoot fast and accurate.
It;s just an idea i had to let out and ill be posting some actually lines of dialogue in script format. I also have a Batarian squady in the back of my mind but we;ll see how it goes.

Name: Davies Race: Human Looks: Attractive, wears a top hat. Role: Squad member (ME1, 2 and 3), Boss. Owns AN ENTIRE WARD OF THE CITADEL. Class; All Romanceable: Yes ( Femshep, Tali) Appears: Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3. Strengths: Gifted genius with computers, powerful biotic, business dynamo. Robot president. Weaknesses: None. Trivia; Grew up in the flotilla and had his legs broken to look like a Quarian's or some shit.
(The Davies DLC got taken off the Fanfiction wiki. I'm pretty upset about it. It was the biggest online monument to autism this side of CWCville.)

Do me a favour and don't mock autism for five seconds - Buch's here and that's an especially sensitive one. You know how he gets when people say horrendous things.
-----
I'm such a purist for canon-loyalty that I'd never want to start adding squadmates. That said I bet I could have done better than Samara, Jacob and Kasumi....
I did get very carried away with making up characters when I played the game last time, though, and had the multiplayer going at the same time so that I could add a bunch of characters as war assets. Boy did I get carried away. I had backstories and complicated intertwinging campaigns that they were on, all ending on Earth. It was ridiculous. That said they were all very unoriginal. I had Kaiden's ex 'Rahna' as a hyper-aggressive L2 Adept, Commander Rentola from Kirrahe's old unit, a human soldier who dressed like Shepard out of hero worship (basically James) and Sidonis fighting on Palaven. All sorts of mad personality details like them clashing over racial differences and losing squadmates. I very nearly started a big fanfic with them all, but thankfully lost all interest as soon as I finished playing.

Haha, Glow. Yeah, I was upset that it was taken off the wiki, too. So much hilarity there. And yeah, hold up a bit on the autism jokes. It doesn't offend me, but it kind of hits a little too close to home for Buch, what with his family and all.
Gonna break a rule here (unless the whole FF reviews section post thing was just a guideline of sorts), since I doubt this thread will hold residence in the story section for very long.
I too have done this, embarrassed as I am to say it (but it feels good to say it, hot dayum!), though the cosmetic self-inserts or whatever were people that had little to no combat skills, occasionally joining Shepard via landing to do sporadic research or other such gathering. I'd occasionally go to bed pretending I was in the Normandy's cryosleep chamber or other such stuff. Twas pretty cute and all, in the height of my Mass Effect fandom.
The SI's were different in the ME 1 & 2 games.
ME1 character/2183 Name: Lionel Cameron Race: Human (Caucasian with hints of African/Caribbean ancestry) Looks: Physically average, full head of brown hair, clean shaven, hazel eyes Role: Engineer, Navigator's Mate, and shore party materials/inventory expert Class: Engineer Affiliation: Systems Alliance Navy, Fifth Fleet (Service Chief) Romancible: Haven't really thought about it, most likely not Appears: Mass Effect 1 Strengths: Good at navigation, computers, somewhat adept at hacking, and an inquisitive galaxy scholar and eager learner. Pretty easy to get along with. Weaknesses: Little to no combat experience or any promise of aptitude in that particular field. Compulsive bar/club hopping on shore leave, spends a robust amount of sums on Asari prostitutes. Very prone to over-analyzing and taking his time when working; a perfectionist of sorts. Friends & Family: Lucille Cameron (Sister, colonial medical student) Nikhil Bachchan (Academy peer and close friend, future brother in law, engaged to Lucille Cameron) Trivia: Speaks in a distinctly east-coast urban accent, particularly Bronx or Brooklyn. Installed a Graybox implant within his mind. Killed in action in the beginning of Mass Effect 2.
ME2 character/2185 Name: Nikhil Bachchan Race: Human (Distinctly Indian-Punjabi) Looks: Somewhat athletic, minor beard which switches between stubble and full, slightly balding Role: Field Engineer (With emphasis on tech/engineering skills) Class: Operative Affiliation: Systems Alliance Navy (Gunnery Chief), Cerberus (Lazarus Cell, Field Technician) - Double Agent Romancible: No (He's already engaged) Appears: Mass Effect 2, and possibly 3 Strengths: Good tech and omni tool skills. No slouch with a pistol or any sort of rifle. Pretty good at some fields of science, particularly biology and chemistry. A good information gatherer. Weaknesses: Has issues with killing living, civil creatures, most seriously humans which he has been known to refuse to pull the trigger when in his sights. Compulsive smoker. Suffers from a fair bit of depression and a touch of anxiety. Secret double agent status puts pressure on his conscience. Quite worried about his future. Friends and Family: Lucille Cameron (Fiance) Trivia: Mild New Delhi accent. Carries an Edge Mk. VI pistol modified to fire single shots and six round bursts, as well as a beige painted Viper sniper rifle. Wears light Cerberus Skunkworks brand Hoplite Mk. II armor. Commissioned by Alliance Naval Intelligence to infiltrate Cerberus and spy on Commander Shepard's activities as well as the entirety of Lazarus cell.

My originality spark has yet to truly strike. I keep hoping I'll have a bright idea though.

If I wanted to cheat, I'd snag Ian from Halo of Flies. That said, I'll go with this one.
Name: Nicholas Felps Race: Human Looks: average height with a lanky yet athletic build; has a somewhat bookish appearance to make him look like a bit of a nerd, has shoulder-length tan hair, hazel eyes, and usually dresses casually Role: Analyst and squad member (ME1-ME3) Class: Adept (L3-type biotic who is also a fair shot with a pistol) Affiliation: Bounty hunter (former) Romance: Yes (FemShep, Liara, Jack, Samara) Appears: Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3 Strengths: skilled close-quarters combatant, very capable analyst, good at tracking down leads and possible targets, knows people who are various players in the underworld Weaknesses: Likes his booze, has a slightly abrasive personality and a "devil may care" attitude that tends to rub people the wrong way, wary of cops/C-Sec agents, his association with underworld elements occasionally bites him in the ass, taste in music (heavy metal) tends to annoy his fellow squad mates, less than helpful in long-range fights. Trivia: Speaks with a slight American midwest accent, has a criminal history due to his work.

This would normally go under pet wishes, but I'll just say there needs to be a Mass Effect FPS game with Arnold voicing the main protagonist and John Lithgow or somebody voicing the villain.

Role; Squad mate ( Me2) and cameo in ME3 Class; Demolition expert ( Grenades) Afflication; Anti-Hegomoney Terrorist/ Merc to fund his crusade ( ME2), Co-leader of the batarian people after having tried to save as many of his people as he could when the Reapers arrived.
