Oh dear. Article is great, but I really wish Badass Of the Week would stop making me feel bad for laughing so hard at things like that (due to the way it's written).
Not their fault, but still. Lol.

Great writeup. I had mentioned Vickers in the other thread. I think a lot of Canadians think that the post of Sergeant at Arms is some kind of cushy patronage post. Behind the ceremony and frippery the post brings are some pretty hardcore guys.

That man is a goddamn hero. He saved so many lives that day, I honestly think if it weren't for him, more people would have died at the hands of that horrible maniac.
And I agree with Cali - I had a hard time stopping myself from laughing at the way the writer wrote the narration. Such a serious situation to be writing about, but rather amusing the way it was written.
And one last thing - I was impressed and have much respect for the writer of that article saying that he refused to name the killer in the write-up because (as he said) "I’ve chosen not to name him here, mostly because I don’t believe people like this deserve to have their names mentioned in the same breath as the heroes who stop them.".
Much respect.
And yes, Kevin Vickers certainly deserves mention as a Badass.

Sergeants at Arms are tasked with protecting the Members of Parliament and all inside the Houses from any threat at all cost. Ideally, it's a ceremonial role, but also in an ideal world, you want a one-man (or woman) Terminator-style wrecking machine in that post if everything goes sideways. I have a huge amount of respect and admiration of Kevin Vickers for getting shit done like he did.

So do they want me thinking "Leaving infirm babies out to die" or "Really basic with no fancy features" here?

Will it also include a GUI Avatar calling itself "John-117"?
