Greetings, I am Mad-Hamlet. I've been writing fanfiction for over fifteen years though there was a period of around six years where I posted nothing, just wrote for myself. I've been trained in classical literature and storytelling so I'm a bit conservative and old fashioned. For example: If I see the word 'alot' I want to hit the writer in question with a truck. 'Loose' instead of 'lose' and it gets upgraded to big truck. Responding to valid and thoughtful criticism with 'Those are not errors and/or bad storytelling, that's just my style' and it gets upgraded to Steamroller starting at the toes. I try to be pleasant, considerate and open minded but I'm evil so it doesn't work out so well. On the plus side I have a viscous sense of humor so that's good. Oh, and I never, ever apologize. Sorry if that bothers you. -MH

That's "vicious." *Runs over new guy with steam roller* Now, Clint, he might have actually meant 'viscous'... it might change the meaning of his statement as a result, but... here it is (copied from Wikipedia for definition, as I knew the meaning but Wikipedia put it in far better words than I could... ;D): Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluid which is being deformed by either shear stress or tensile stress. In everyday terms (and for fluids only), viscosity is "thickness" or "internal friction". Thus, water is "thin", having a lower viscosity, while honey is "thick", having a higher viscosity. Put simply, the less viscous the fluid is, the greater its ease of movement (fluidity). Mad-Hamlet might be saying he has a rather thick sense of humor... p.s. to Mad-Hamlet - welcome to the boards! Always nice to see a new face - or rather, a new screen-name. ;D

Actually I was going for an analogy of depth but yes, you broke the code.

Damn it. I thought I caught a grammar nazi in a mistake. It's fun to see the hot air slowly leak out of them.
Welcome to the boards, Prince of Denmark!

Damn it. I thought I caught a grammar nazi I really, really, really hate that term(No offense taken). Surprisingly not because of the association with quite possibly one of the most evil organizations in history, but because of the implication that it is bad to proud of and maintain standards. And to enjoy vehicular homicide. Though I do agree- watching hot air leak out of arrogance balloons is singularly satisfying. And I thank you for the welcome. Query: What, in your opinion, is the best film portrayal of Hamlet? I'm torn between Branagh and Tennet. RE: The banner. I did not make the animation, that was done by a DA fellow called Neehs. I did make the banner though. Creepy? Blasphemy!

And he's just so hammy that he played Hamlet's 'insanity' so well... Hmm... *wonders how long it would take to get hold of that movie on DVD* ;D

Surely Sir Laurence of Oliver?
Branagh was very good. I never saw David Tennant, but I really can't stand the guy so I suspect I would hate his version. xD
Yakko Warner did a very good Hamlet as well.
Are you a Shakespeare fan, madhamlet? I love me a bit of Shakespeare! Although honestly I've only seen / read a handful of them.

I got that on VHS. To be honest i did prefer the production with David Tennant and Patrick Stewart.

To be honest, the only two film versions of Hamlet I've seen were the Kenneth Branagh one, and the 'modernised' version with Ethan Hawke. I think some Shakespeare plays are done very well when modernised (like Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet) and some are... somewhat lacking. It was a decent movie, but I didn't like it as much as it could have been...

Oh good lord that was awful. The only good thing I got out of it was Bill Murray's performance as Polonius; he did very well with the focus on his character as a good father- of course this was only possible as every scene where Polonius is a jerk has been edited out.
Everything else was a horror. I blame the direction more than the actors though- one of the great rants of literature delivered through an answering machine? Holy Christ on tacos!
The only thing worse was Mel Gibson's. 'Hey, I'll put poison on my blade before my friendly duel with Hamlet. You know, where we use practice BROADSWORDS!'
