A good friend of mine from the service, meironmaiden, suggested I come to this site and post my experience.
*ahem*
On the 13th of March I had purchased a digital copy of a normal version of Mass Effect 3 for my fiance'. I had gotten her to enjoy this series as much as I have over the years and I was thrilled I could "Attempt" to enjoy Multiplayer WITH her, and share my experiences with her as well. Well, 2 days ago, she had logged onto her Origin account to find her copy of Mass Effect 3 was MISSING. When she had tried to look up the status of the copy on the Origin service, it told her it was "Refunded." There was NO attempt sent to her email or MINE stating that this had happened. So suffice it to say, she was a little pissed off and called me. She then attempts to find out through Origin.com's Customer Support Live Chat Service to ask for more information. After an hour of them giving her half-assed answers and giving her the run around, they give her the excuse of "Fraudulent Use of a Keycode." Without any further clarification as to what they even MEANT, she gave up in frustration. I then tell her I'll take care of it.
Now to clarify, I had logged onto my fiance's account so that I could purchase the copy of Mass Effect 3 on HER account so I wouldn't end up with 2 copy's of it. I already own the Digital Deluxe Version which I purchased through Amazon long before it came out. Anyway, I go onto their site and go to the live chat and was speaking with someone who was obviously from India, (So EA thought they could save money by outsourcing their customer support to another country. How American...) So then I demand answers from the representative (Whom I will name "Bob") and let them know that someone else had given my lady a piss poor excuse for support and I wanted answers and FAST. Bob, with his one-key-stroke responses asks me what the problem was, apologizes for the issue and will be HAPPY to assist me. I tell him that I bought it on her account with my card...blah,blah,blah... I had asked my lady send me the screenshot showing the invoice she had on her account, and I pulled up my transaction history from my bank online. I also pulled up their FAQ section to see their Refund and Return Policy. They claimed the situation was resolved and had already refunded me the money. I call their bluff and prove otherwise. I also brought up the fact that their Policy states in black and white, Origin does not refund purchases made through the origin software unless "Exceptional" circumstances are met. With a simple reply of "Try again..." from me, I could tell they shut up.
About 10 minutes later, they give me the same excuse they gave my lady of "Fraud Management." Without any further explanation on their part. That leads me to believe that their system is FLAWED. From their outsourcing customer support to India, to the shitty quality of their multiplayer servers to releasing a brand new game which had gotten THOUSANDS of purchases of, on a BETA SOFTWARE. An INCOMPLETE SOFTWARE. This proves something is very WRONG with Origin and EA. How is it, for example, a game like Killing Floor which was made in the UK have an almost flawless multiplayer service and servers for gamers to play together in different COUNTRIES, and yet I can't even play with my fiance, who lives on the other side of the county, I live in California she's in Mississippi, on a game that was made by a company which is INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN, and made in the U.S.?
With them telling me the situation was resolved and after me confirming with my bank and can CLEARLY see that no attempt has been made to resolve the issue, I finished my discussion with what seemed to be with "Bob" and another associate he was speaking with off the computer. They claim that the refund will be sent within 5-7 Business Days. I finish with, "Fine, I'll wait the apparent week for this situation to be resolved. I'm going to keep close watch on my account til then. If nothing changes before the deadline, there WILL be a problem. Have a nice day." *click*
I must've terrified them, because just yesterday, not even 24 hours later I check my account to the surprising sight of not only did they refund the full price I paid for my lady's game, they also refunded all the money I spent on bioware points I had purchased through Origin Beta as well.
People, I'm not saying this has happened to you. I'm saying that this should be made aware of everyone who has had to settle for Origin Beta to enjoy any game done by EA. After what they did to one of my favorite gaming titles I've ever played, and turned it into Call of Duty in Space, and then gave it a cluster fuck ending to it like they did "The Day the Earth Stood Still" Starring Keanue Reeves, I'm repulsed by this. A cluster fuck ending which gave no definite answers to ANYTHING, and made. no. SENSE. Sony did the same thing to God of War 3, I'll be DAMNED if they leave it like THAT to the Mass Effect Trilogy. We deserve better than this, and Bioware and EA can DO better than this.
After everything that's happened, I'm done with EA. I'm sure some of you out there who took the time to read this, have, in some way, felt "Wronged" in some way by all that's happened. I encourage feedback. I IMPLORE ALL of you to share your experiences and make your voices heard.
Thank you for reading and your consideration. I hope this has made things more clearer in what's going on.
Thank you again.
p.s. There's a lovely Refund Button in the Origin Beta for a reason. ;3
