I've moved this topic from fanfic to Mass Effect discussion, because I don't think it's fanfic. It seems to be a discussion point about the games, but certainly not fiction. Also try not to yell at each other too much (especially you Knightfall, you vicious git). -- And, just for once, I'm not going to get involved in this conversation about religion. I'm going to make a tuna sandwich. What the french toast?! Dude... I had no idea that this thread i created, still existed until like five minutes ago ;D I had thought it just got deleted, because I broke some site rules on subject matter or something. Who knew... Anywhoo: I will just add for now that I see nothing wrong with BioWare going a bit farther with the 'Character Creation Choices' They let us choose whether Commander Shepard is a 'Homeworlder' 'Off-Worlder' or 'Spacer'. We choose Shepard's Gender and Appearance, along with his or her Career Highlights.Would it have been so very difficult to allow the player to decide Shepard's 'Sexual Orientation' and Spirtual, Religous or Philosophical Inclinations? Most people, grow up in a home with some sort of religious adherrence.Shepard's parents could have been beatnicks for all we know. But the claim that sense their are so many religons, that no religions should be represented. Is a bit extreme.BioWare doesn't have to try and please everyone. But I think it would be pretty cool if Shepard could pray, like a Muslim prays to the sun in the east. This could look really beautiful... back on Shepard's home that he won during Pinnacle Station. Mass Effect is not The Sims, but like how your character in those games has a 'Mood Meter' Shepard having something similar in ME could be interesting. And their are many studies that show that religion can have a very benefecial medical and psycholgical effect on those who practice it. This would all be optional of course. The choices could be: - Agnostic - Atheist - Catholic - Muslim - Hindu - Buddist -Miscellanious But to each his own, of course...

While I do enjoy the study of theology (and not arguing about it like most people enjoy doing), I think it would be somewhat pointless to be able to choose Shepard's religious background, Mensch. I felt that Shepard's conversation with Ash was very well done, allowing you to essentially choose whether or not Shepard was creationist or secular and not have to deal with it afterward. I sort of imagined my Shepard practicing deism, for instance. I really don't see how it should have progressed beyond that, and I just think it would leave less to the imagination if you could actually choose whether not Shep was Catholic, Episcopalian, Orthodox Jewish, Sunni Muslim, etc.

If they did have religion they need to add Jedi On a note which goes with this discussion you could have Shepard looking up to the sky and not saying 'god' or anything like that and shout something out at that point. Therefore you get a touching theme going on there but no religion to go with it. I think the religion you get in ME1 is enough for a game. Especially with the Hanar.
