The idea of this is to act as a pure, positive foil to the Pet Hates and Guilty Pleasures threads.
This is for things that are great and deserve mention. Stephen Fry was on the 'Room 101' show on Telly once and suggested that they do a 'Room Lovely' segment where he just named things he loved.
So-
Super Mario Bros. I will never get tired of playing that game. Douglas Adams. Red Dwarf Ben and Jerry's ice cream And That tune they play at the beginning at the cinema. You know, that 'pah-pah-pah-pah, pah pah pah-pah pah-pah-pah...' That tune. They only play it at some cinemas now, but I love it.

alright... here's mine - Zelda: Ocarina of Time. *Sob* That's the reason why I've wanted to be a game designer in the first place - Okami. Another game that moved me a lot. From the beautiful gameplay interface with brush stokes to a moving storyline and charcaters. especially near the end... it's so moving *sob* - The pianist. - Haibane Ranmei. A beautiful anime with a slow but stedy pacing with heart warming moments. - Legend of the Condor Heroes. Great epic storyline with one of the best character couples imo. - Nobuo Uematsu - Yasunori Mitsuda. Too bad I don't see much of his composition in the recent times - His Dark Materials trilogy. Best thing I've read at the time when I was a kid. - Isobelle Carmody. She wrote the Obernewtyn Saga, good read but very hard to chew due to the harsh nature of the story. - The Secret of Mana Theme song. Still brings me the chills everytime I've listen to it.

Re: Ocarina of Time
Yes. Yes! That game is bloody magical. There's no other word. The ending theme music still makes me emotional. One of the fondest memories of my childhood.
I recently bought The Windwaker, - this will be the first time I've played it. Here's hoping it brings back some the magic.

"Pah pah pah" song! Every time we have a screening at my University we sing that song at the beginning. lol Its become a weird tradition.
I would like to add trees into my hall of fame for the amazing work they do making oxygen and trying to clean up our messy C02 levels and being perfect things to climb and house all kinds of wildlife and acting as shelter and most of all growing apples and other interesting foods! I think trees should just have a religion. They are Gods.

The sun. Without it, all lifeforms die. It's essential to have the sun functioning properly.

omfg... I feel so dense for not mentioning this but if there's one program I cannot live without, it's Photoshop! It's my bread and butter for my career. I've use it all the time for painting and photo manipulation including some snarky photographic changes... whoops didn't mean to say that ^^ Also the Wacom graphics tablet. I simpilly cannot paint half of my portfolio crap digitally without it. Other stuff: -The Chasers' War on Everything (Hehe, the APEC stunt) -Mass Effect (I still blame the game for pulling me out from WoW in the first place) -Final Fantasy 6 -Spoony Experiment -Mod Community (Gives an old game a total new spin ) -Katamari -Monkey Island As for wind waker that you just bought, I'm sure you won't be disappointed Mr. Buch.

Definitely Monkey Island, yes.
And I'm not all that bothered about Spoony, but I would like to add the Nostalgia Chick.

Update- Having said that, I'm watching that Phantasmagoria 2 video now and it's very funny.

Oh boy... it will get worse later on. I hope you can stomach all that b-grade horror crap with gore and... well I'm not going to mention that *ahem*. Enjoy the ride Mr. Buch. Muhahaha! - Also while I was looking up on shadows and painting I've just remembered. Caravaggio. The most badass artist of his time. So badass he killed 3 people in a duel and ran like hell like a fugitive. And he managed to whip up billiant paintings in between the duels, the killing and running away from the law. *ahem* Also in the accademic tone, one of the most impoartant artist for the moden era. There, I did my obligated accademic report and now you take a look at his badassery. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caravaggio

I may be talking crazy, but I thought that game was on an even playing field, if not better, than Ocarina of Time. I loved the art design and the waterworld-that-doesn't-have-Kevin-Costner. The combat, the story, the ending: it all seemed a step up to me, though I know how futile it is to compare it to a classic like OoT.

Yeah I am looking forward to the Windwaker, now that Luigi's Extraordinarily Tedious Mansion has finally been cleared. If it is halfway as good as Ocarina, I will be very happy. (After that I'll probably buy Fallout 3, Knight. The rental is only two days - which is pointless for me. I wouldn't get around to starting in two days.)
That Kevin Costner joke is gold, by the way.

So Tillian - I am now two hours into Spoony's 'Let's Play Phantasmogoria 2' videos - and I'm laughing my arse off. Good recommendation!

Was just arguing with my hubby and brother-in-law last night about water world and Kevin Costner. I like that movie even if everybody else thinks its awful Kevin Costner can't act but he has presence....

Was just arguing with my hubby and brother-in-law last night about water world and Kevin Costner. I like that movie even if everybody else thinks its awful Kevin Costner can't act but he has presence.... Well, now, I wouldn't say that Kevin Costner can't act. Though, I do think most of his movies are hit and miss. For instance, I loved Open Range, Dances With Wolves, and Thirteen Days. Waterworld was a movie that I wouldn't watch more than twice, and I already did. They tried to make it a typical contemporary action movie instead of an adventure movie. The part with the floating city was pretty neat. But things like The Postman...I remember on The Simpsons where they played the DVD commentary for that movie and all it contained was Kevin Costner apologizing to his audience over and over again. There ya go. But my some of my family are insane fans of his. They go to Pebble Beach for the Pro-Am every year to watch him in the golf tournament. ><

Dances with wolves is a master piece. The music is beautiful which is basically what I look for in movies nowadays. I haven't been completely captured by a movie in years but Transporter 1 and 2 did a damn good job. Though in Transporter 2 I did stop in the car chase scene to announce the music didn't match the pictures. I have no idea why my friend Helen still comes around for movie nights with me, all I do is talk about the music and my hubby talks about the cinematography. Bring on a Costner movie for at least he held my attention!
