I feel awfully silly making a big announcement like I'm Spielberg or something. But- I'm (almost certainly) not going to be writing a 'Mock Effect' sequel. This is basically just a time issue - when I wrote the first one I had an unbelievably easy job and tons of time. Now I can barely find ways to play Mass Effect 2, let alone devote months to parodying it. The other thing is that Mass Effect 2 is hard to make fun of. Aside from Samara and the ending... I think the general quality of writing and the characters are very good. Let me say that I'm immensely grateful to the people who asked me about Mock Effect 2, and unbelievably flatterred by those who were actually looking forward to it. Thanks!And... there is a giant, overblown version of this announcement on mine and Knight's blog- buchnknight.blogspot.com/2010/02/mock-effect-2.html

This sucks royally. I was looking forward to reading this, but I suppose if you don't want to write it, no one can force you to.

It's just finding the time to commit to it. Thanks for the compliment btw

Gotta do what you gotta do. You've got a very nice road set our for yourself right now and an occupation to work toward. Uni (it's hard for me to call it that, sounds like Uno) plus a nice helping of all those books you ordered will get you miles, and maybe even kilometers, closer to your goal.
This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds.

I'd be lying if I said I was not a sad panda at reading this. But we are talking a rather large investment in time here. I'll keep looking forward to the other work that shows in here though.

So... uh... This may make me look ridiculous, but I changed my mind! The first chapter of 'Mock Effect 2' is now up - others will follow slowly but surely! -- As for this thread... I just wanted attention. This is why I didn't post in here with a sad face because I wasn't sure if you'd change your mind

I'm very bad at making decisions.
I've been on-and-off about Mock Effect for ages. In the end I decided to do it mainly because I had already got a lot of it prepared and I didn't want to waste it.

FINAL, final update:
I've quit 'Mock Effect' again, this time for good.
Sorry about messing you guys about! I am just reeeeally bad at making decisions. And this one was very very difficult to make.
I will never find time to write it, and I don't want it looming over me like an assignment all year. That just defeats the point of writing it.
----
So. Sorry to anyone who wanted to read it. This thread is very embarrasing.

:-(
I hope you will find my continuation of your epic work satisfactory. Speaking of which I should get back to formatting.

I should say - three people have actually asked for the 'licence' to write a Mock Effect 2. (And it made me feel like a superstar author every time.)
And I said yes to all of you!
The first was a long time ago now, so I don't think that's happening. But-
Clint and another author have both already begun - soooo... it looks like there will be two versions of 'Mock Effect 2'.
I am really looking forward to reading both of them. And of course I'm extremely flattered. Thanks guys, and good luck.

I'd Hire Garrus to take my competition out, but he'd probably hide behind a couch or something.

I'd Hire Garrus to take my competition out, but he'd probably hide behind a couch or something. What the heck was that couch made out of anyway? I guess the fake leather of the future is more immune to chain guns and missiles than body armor. Maybe Grunt can carry it into battles as a portable shield.

Duh! What did you think the Fortification power was? I need his loyalty for him to learn how to carry a couch into battle. Man Krogan puberty is very distracting. ;D
