Ok so I just finished watching the Lats of the Mohican's with my hubby. We turn off the DVD and it goes straight to BBC News 24....
"This just in, Micheal Jackson is dead!"
I thought it was a practical joke for a while then I had to call people and tell them. I can't believe it! He was doing a tour for gods sakes.... how did this happen? Yes I know a heart attack but ya know ... why?! Its so weird. I was singign along to some of his old songs only this afternoon whilst doing the dishes.

Next thing you know, Bad and Thriller are going to be on Rolling Stone's best selling albums because of this.
Shame the guy died. Hey may have been a little on the looney side, but Thriller is just too good of an album to justify any dislike for him.

Don't judge the music by the crazy life style of its creator or we'd never look at ANY painting or sculpture or have anything to do with an invention.... there goes the computer

Exactly.
Vincent Van Gough and Stanley Kubrick were some insane mo-fos, but goddamn if their creations weren't some of the finest in their fields.

Theres a saying somewhere that goes something like : Insanity and artistry walk hand in hand.

Not one hundred percent true. David Firth of Salad Fingers fame seems pretty down to earth in all of his interviews. You'd think he was just any other giddy socialite.

Wow theres a thread on this? But yes this did shock me. When I heard about and confirmed it I was like OMG I HAVE TO CALL SOMEONE. So I called my nephew, while I was listening to Thriller, and was like DUDE MICHEAL JACKSON IS DEAD. And after 10 min of talking to him his mom was yells Micheal Jackson is dead! (i guess to let everyone know). All this time I was thinking "Wow a world without Micheal Jackson, I lived my whole life with that guy around until now." I like some of his songs but its weird that he's gone....

I was referring to Firth's social behavior. Kubrick and Van Gough were reportedly awkward and timid in any situation, unlike Firth. He certainly isn't right in the head though.

Wow. What fricken crazy year indeed, first the BioWare and Mythic merger and the death of Micheal Jackson I swore I didn't see those coming! On a serious note, add Edvard Munch to the list of eccentric behaviors. At his time he was mentality instable with having trouble to maintaining a relationship with women. Yet his painitings were listed as one of the greatest. Yeah, like everyone else, it's a shock to hear about MJ's death. Ironically enough my guitar teacher played a riff to Thiller the other day... Also while we're talking about death here's something to sink your teeth in and think about it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLVsIpejFgM&feature=fvstYes I know inappropriate but the song makes a good point about 'death til part us.'

This is indeed very sad. He was an excellent singer and dancer. I was wondering if there would be a thread. - And the song is a little inappropriate, but funny (Aside from what he says about John Lennon, which is nonsense.) It sounds a lot like something Eric Idle would have sung in Monty Python doesn't it?

Yeah, the Chaser Boys were inspired from Monty Python it seems.
This song is so controversial and infamous that a lot of higher ends and moral mother complain about the song even our prime minister of Australia critise this song infront of national television.

I have to admit linking this song to this thread is kinda tasteless *cough*. However as I've said before, it's the truth. I know MJ is kinda crazy and the infamous ccusation from a sickly kid is still stuck in my head but he's talented in his lifetime. Kinda a shame really.

I'm just shocked into silence... what more can happen this year? Apart from the TV license sending me threatening letters even though I don't have to renew until August...

For me it's the first time going off to college away from home later this year and the new Wheel of Time book coming out later this year.

For me it's the first time going off to college away from home later this year and the new Wheel of Time book coming out later this year. Well good luck with college. The first year away from home is always the hardest. My advice to you is pack lots of loo roll. Always forget to buy that stuff at the most inopportune moments.
