I was being sarcastic because I keep seeing adverts on every surface - sorry, it wasn't clear!
Did you know, that the Sharif doesn't like it when people rock the kasbah?

Did you know, that the Monkees, during the height of their career, were too busy singing to put anybody down? But now that they spend much less time singing, they occupy their time wandering the streets and issuing fierce and disgusting insults to everyone they meet, in an attempt to calm their decades of pent-up rage?

Did you know, Halifax is about to be smashed by another blizzard, but the really shite weather that would justify me staying home from work has not hit yet, and will probably wait until I am at work on the opposite side of the city before smashing in and getting our buses pulled off the road so I end up stuck away from Linders on the other side of the city overnight??
I hate Nova Scotia weather in the winter!! I hate Blizzards! Grr, Aargh!
*beat*
Stupid snow.

I knew that. In fact I remember it well. It was a night like this, forty million years ago. I lit a cigarette, picked up a monkey skull to go. The sun was spitting fire, the sky was cold as ice. I felt a little tired, so I watched Miami Vice. I walked the Di-no-saaaaur. And then I fell asleep.

Work wants me to go in anyway even though people who go to restaurants in weather like this should be given a kick in the balls rather than food. it's not gonna get bad until after I'm there. I already told them if it gets worse, I'm out. they don't pay me enough to get stranded there in bad weather by transit being shut down. They are promising to make sure everyone gets home. We'll see.

All I know is that Leroy Brown is the baddest man in the whole damn town, and that I shouldn't mess around with Jim, either.

I have no idea what is going on in this thread. None at all. I just enjoy the random wacky fun; it's usually good for a few giggles... the randomest stuff comes out here sometimes...

I have no idea what is going on in this thread. None at all. This - as we have discussed before - is because you are too young. If you were born before the turn of the century like the rest of us, you'd know exactly what was going on.

Did you know, today was the first time in my life that I have actually low-balled a tip in a restaurant?
Linders and I went to a pub down the street from our apartment for brunch today; normally an awesome little pub, good food, good service, nothing to complain about.
Today, however, it was an unusually less-than-stellar day there... the server took a long time to take our orders (to be fair, she asked us what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down) but then took 15 minutes just to bring us our drinks - easy drinks, too... a Coke and a Diet Coke. Then, she took a long time to take our food orders. We ordered an appetizer to share (Mussels in Bailey's Irish Cream Sauce - delicious!!), and I ordered a breakfast plate with eggs / bacon / sausage / toast and Linders ordered a Curried Lamb thing... and it took over half an hour just for the appetizer to arrive, and then another 15 - 20 minutes after that for the meal.
She then asked after bringing us the main dishes if we needed anything else and I asked for jam for my toast, but the jam never arrived. I ended up eating the toast without jam, which was rather bland, and when she came back to take the empty plates, she made absolutely no mention of the lack of jam... she brought our bill, and I paid and added a 10% tip.
Now, I'm not sure how it is in the rest of the world / or where everyone else is from, but here in Nova Scotia, a 15% tip is considered appropriate. I tipped 10% today, and it was the first time in my life that I gave a low tip...
On average, I tend to tip between 20 - 25 % - depending on how good the service is. Normal service typically gets 20 % from me, and service that impresses me more than normal gets 25%. Again, it really depends on the restaurant and the servers. One server at Linders' restaurant was awesome enough once that I think I gave her 30 %. But she'd been super-nice to me, and gave me one of my drinks for free... so I tipped well.
All in all, we likely won't stop going to this particular pub, again, today was a rare day for them - they're usually pretty awesome. But I was surprised at the lower level of service.
