I let Ben die on The Walking Dead for no reason at all except that I misunderstood the situation. Afterwards people kept asking why I did it, and I'm like, "I thought he was going to slow us down or something! He said SOMEthing to that effect and frankly I wish I had written it down, but apparently he was wrong or I misunderstood, and there you go." Sadly there was no dialogue option for that. xD

I thought there was no room on the boat or that picking him up would mean I couldn't escape... or.... something. I was very confused.
But what with it being Ben, I feel like "death by somebody else's blind incompetence" was kind of appropriate. ;D

It's really interesting hearing what people do in the heat of the moment in this game. I think it's one of the main reasons it's been so successful.
I remember being pretty freaked out my sister had helped Kenny smash Larry's head and killed both the cannibals.

I helped Ben up because of one reason.
Never leave a man behind....and CLem would be super sad.
They are your gang, you look after each other. Hell i liked how Kenny and Ben eventually made up in episode 5.
In the immortal words of Two Best Friends " nobody fucks with us."

I would have saved Ben if I had understood the question. xD
I agree that it's interesting hearing about how other people played the game. Seeing those statistics at the end where a certain percentage of people did such a thing, every time I always go "How could they?!" at some cold practical thing. Amusingly about 10% of people saved Doug in episode 1 while the rest saved the hot chick. Mm-hm.
I've been playing it as nice-guy, honest and peacemaking as I possibly can, but cleverly that is really starting to clash with protecting Clem now, so there have been some moments where I yelled at Ben or tried to toughen Clementine up too fast. I'm also thrilled with how my relationship with Kenny has switched back and forth between 'best friends' to each thinking the other was a psycho and ignoring each other, to absolute enemies, to friends again. And it's just impressive that there is a successful mainstream videogame now where one of the primary goals is to be a good father. Plus I just realised this is probably the first game I ever played where the protagonist is black?! Can't believe it took to 2013 before I could say that (outside of character-generator RPG's, and even then the default is white).

Careful everyone, Buch has a salt lick ready!
TBH, I prefer playing black human characters in RPG's now a days just because barely anyone does. And I did notice, espcially with Bioshock: infinite, there is a paternal sensibility brought to gamers.

Yeah, it seems to be a thing recently in games to give the player a pseudo-daughter to travel with and get attached to. The Last of Us is doing it, as well.
Also Buch, you've never flown a Harrier over 1990s L.A with this playing?

Hold on, I can think of two other examples of games with a default black protagonist -- Bebe's Kids and Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. Both classics, too. Never mind.

Aw man now there are hundreds and I look like some kind of liberal wackjob pseudo-intelligentsia. Shadow Man, Moonwalker, Bebe's Kids, Streets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog, Joe & Mac, Lemmings, Bad Boys the game, 50 Cent Bulletproof, Splosion Man, that Mortal Kombat game where you play as Jax, Altered Beast, Ultima III.... there are thousands.
