I was rewatching an episode of it the other day and I think some of the magic might have worn off for me. Whedon just writes the same character six times and has them all say different stuff. Probably falls under the "didn't have time to ruin it" category.
Jayne's pretty funny, though.

That's the nerd equivalent of, "You know, Frank, I always thought your wife was kind of ugly." Good point about 'didn't' have time to ruin it. Whedon seems to make his shows a million-shows long, with a few scattered seasons of sheer brilliance, several bad ones and a few fine ones. But really - Firefly is gold, beginning to end, with big flaws that only last a few scenes

Watching Peppermint Candy atm. It's a Korean film and don't be misled by the name, this ain't a romantic romp. The intro to the film where the protagonist commits suicide by a incoming train is a big give away how this film would end.

I was watching Heat with Robert de Niro and Al Pachino. A very good crime film...but why the unhappy ending dude?!

Unhappy endings are my favourite kind!
I had a great night last night, watching a double bill of MST3K (and drinking). I'll have to do that again.

I highly recommend Collateral, also done by Michael Mann (I think that's the director) A little snippet of one of the most badass scenes in movie history... USP 45: $900 NIB .45 ACP hollowpoints: $32.95/box of 50 Proving you're a badass by dropping two thugs with a pair of perfectly executed Mozambique Drills: Priceless.

Collateral was a very good, but under appreciated, film.

I know what you mean. Where else do you see Tom Cruise playing a jazz-loving assassin who says things like "Yo, Homie!" while in a nice suit?

Yep. Right now finishing an episode of A-Team 2.0 (AKA Leverage) and getting ready to pop in "The Tourist"

I saw Collateral in theaters. Wasn't sure where the movie was going until he killed those two muggers. Easily one of the most surprising and awesomely-executed moments I've seen in a movie. It really stuck with me for some reason. xD
Star Trek: Voyager popped up on Netflix the other day, so I'll probably get back to revisiting some of my favorite episodes tonight!

I've got seasons 1-6 on DVD. WAY too much time and money on my hands, lol. I actually feel the show got a lot of unnessessary flack over Seven of Nine. Yes, she was a hot chick in a catsuit and was an obvious ploy to bolster ratings. However, the writers actually did a fair job of giving her a hell of a character and Jeri Ryan is a pretty good actress. As a side note, I wonder what Garrett Wang (Harry Kim) did to piss the writers off. Poor guy never caught a decent break and to this day, Garrett can't show his face at a convention without multiple people pointing out his epic fail with Seven in the Mess Hall...

I loved how much of a counterbalance she was against the greater ideals of the crew. It was logical to assume, yeah, they probably wouldn't get home; they'd probably die out in the middle of uncharted space, and it was a waste to continue on under the illusion that they wouldn't. They wanted to hold onto their humanity, but she really couldn't comprehend that and would always, without fail, point out how much they were sacrificing to keep it.
It was interesting! And she had bewbs, which was doubly interesting.
And Ensign (Lieutenant?) Kim, yeah. The first episode I rewatched had him getting owned by those people at war with holograms (photonics). You're right, he was literally incapable of being useful. I think he made a pass at everyone on Voyager short of the captain herself without much success. But Voyager wouldn't have been the same without him. I think Kes was the only member of the crew I wasn't all that attached to, and that pretty much took care of itself. xD
