Chapter 1: Genesis
Captain’s Log: Stardate 45.....23th of March 2385. The name of the place, Ceti Alpha V. After the botched operation on Cinerian VII, Starfleet has shown mercy on me due to missions in the past and have assigned me to a new ship and crew. What I could find on the USS Dauntless was scarce and truth be told I didn’t bother catching up on the records of the crew. The Dauntless is a very old ship, Constitution class much like Captain Kirk’s Enterprise, the ones he kept blowing up. It has served Starfleet since the 70’s last century and has seen action countless times and serves now as a cheap way to maintain an eye on Federation borders rather than construct a space station. I fear this low point in my career will be the remainder of my years of service to the federation…
“Captain Madden!” the shuttle pilot shouted to the man in back.” We’re coming up to the Dauntless, sir.” The Captain was a young man still, despite his rank. He was in his late 20-ties/early 30-ties and was dressed in the standard red and black suited for Starfleet officers. His short haircut and beard further seemed to emphasize his effort into filling the part of a Federation captain. Captain Isaac Ron Madden placed his hand on the shuttle pilot’ seat and peered through the window to look at his new ship. The “USS Dauntless” was like any other Classic Constitution class ship he had seen, a saucer shaped head with a small neck which connected to the torso with two large engines on the sides, but those were in museums or toys or holodeck programmes. This ship which was over an 100 years old was still functioning , he hoped, but did look her age. Old proton torpedo wounds were all over her bow, as well as phaser rounds and obvious newer kinds of metal used to replace the hull where it was breached. It gave the old ship a ugly look, as if a child bandaged its broken toy back together with ducktape. But it was still able to perform her duty, that is all that Isaac cared about. “Make the call.” Isaac said to the shuttle pilot as he sat back. “USS Dauntless, this is Shuttle 478 from the USS Defiant, please respond.” The pilot said. “Shuttle 478, this is the Dauntless. You are clear to park your ship, be careful while landing we just moped the floor there.” The feminine voice on the other end said as it closed off. Isaac and the shuttle pilot looked at each other at the lack of protocol before the pilot shook his head and proceeded to dock the shuttle.” And they call me a Joker….” He mumbled.
The shuttle flew past the blue barrier shields of the docking bay and landed safely. As the doors opened, several crewmen were already busy checking the shuttle out. Isaac stepped out of the shuttle with his hands behind his back and waited. But no official salute or captain on deck call was made. Only three people who weren’t busy with doing anything waited outside on the deck. Isaac walked toward the trio as one of the, a male Vulcan, saluted. “Captain on deck.” He said with his monotone voice with lacked the enthusiasm Isaac wished for. But he couldn’t blame Vulcans, and he at least made the effort to follow protocol. Soon enough, a woman with black hair ( who was looking longingly at the Vulcan) saluted as well eventually when she seemed to notice her new captain. The other human woman with white hair on the other hand seemed to be busy drawing something on her datapad and didn’t bother saluting at all. Terrific, Isaac thought. “At ease...” Isaac said and shook the Vulcan’s hand. “Welcome aboard the Dauntless, Captain.” The Vulcan said. “ I am Commander Linden , your XO.” At least a man with a brain, Isaac said.” Pleasure to meet you, Commander.” He looked to the women. “These are-“ Linden tried to say but Isaac interrupted his XO. “I rather wish to hear it from their mouths please.” The Vulcan nodded.” As you wish.” He motioned to the black haired woman who again was looking at the Vulcan until she snapped back to attention. “Lt. Commander Lilian Black, sir.” She shook his hand.” I am your head of security.” “….Really now?” The new captain forced a smile.” I’m feeling safer already.” “Thank you sir.” Commander Black smiled, unaware of the irony. Isaac moved over to the white haired woman.” And you are…?” The woman looked up, blinking at him.” Counselor Tillia, I’m busy sketching your profile.” She turned her datapad around which showed an angry looking cat. “Oh, that looks adorable.” Lillian smiled.” I love cats, this means we will get along swell, sir!” “I’m sure.” Isaac forced another smile.” I think I am missing two more officers?”
“Doctor Buchalan and Chief engineer are both in sickbay, sir.” Linden said. “Has something happened to the Chief Engineer?” Captain Madden asked. “No sir.” Linden replied.” But it’s 1400, happy hour.”
Captain Madden entered the sick bay where he found his two other remaining officers. Doctor Buchalan, he presumed, had his arm around a Gorn’s shoulder as both sang. Doctor Buchalan was a older fellow with glasses and a unkept beard while his Gorn friend was…well a large space lizard like any other Gorn. “And so he spoke, and so he spoke…that Lord of Axe-y towwwn! And now the rains ‘ere pour his house with no-one there to hear! And now the rains ‘ere pour his house with no-one theeere to hear!” Both slammed their mugs together and had another drink. Madden coughed loudly which drew both their attention. “Holy shite, it’s the commander…” the doctor cursed. The Gorn growled angrily and picked up a table and threw it at the Captain. Captain Madden quickly drew his phaser and shot at the desk which made it disintegrate into nothing. “Fookin’ hell man, that was my desk…sir.” The Doctor blinked in an attempt to fight off the drunkenness. “What is that Gorn doing on my ship?!” Madden demanded to know.” And where is Chief engineer Gorvar?” “Oh, him?” the doctor pointed to the Gorn.” That’s the Chief engineer, sir.” Madden could not help but stare at the creature.” That….is our Chief Engineer?” Gorvar growled angrily again, but then again all his growls sounded the same to the Captain. “He, Captain.” Thedoctor said as he got up with a wobble.” Gorv is a he, isn’t that right Gorv?” The Gorn growled again while he made a nod. “It’s a tad disrespectful sir to call him an it.” “My apologies doctor, but I think I left my manners when….Chief Engineer Gorvar threw a desk at me.” “ It’s a custom of his people to throw rocks at Starfleet Captains sir, and since Astrometrics closed off to us we gotta make do.” “Astrometrics…what did you do there?” Madden asked. “Well, the ECH was acting a little strange when I tried to make him pole dance with just a pole and nothing else, so I thought if we transferred some data from astrometrics so we could have some nice planets to look at while he danced for us.” The Captain closed his eyes and pinched his nose whilst he counted to ten. “You turned the ECH, the only other medical staff member we have in a emergency, into a pole dancer?!” “Strip dancer originally, we also tried to swap gender a few times because the Chief engineer doesn’t like men.” He poked the Gorn.” You prude.” “For the love of god. I could have you both court martialed for this!” Madden shouted. “Small problem with that..Gorvar here is the only man…space lizard on this ship that can make the warp core work and I’m the only man who understands him. And we both served in the Dominion war, killed shitloads of people. Didn’t we, Gorv?” The Gorn growled again with a nod.
The Captain raised his hand to begin a tirade when his com badge went off. “Captain, we got a situation on the bridge.” Commander Linden said. Madden tapped his com badge.” I’m up there now.” He glared and pointed to the two.” This isn’t over yet.” And walked off.
The bridge barely seemed like a bridge, Madden thought. It was like his garage back on Earth, except filled with computers, monitors and people who seemed barely awake. On second thought, it was like his garage back on Earth. Commanders Linden and Black were at their posts, the chair next to the Captain’s seat and tactical respectively, while Tillia was sketching something. “Report.” Madden said as he walked over to his chair. “Lt Commander Clint found something which deserved your attention.” Linden pointed to the helmsmen. Madden didn’t bother reading the personel files, but he did read one. Lt Commander Clint was Admiral Tiberius Clint’ son. A gifted pilot and a expert in firefights, but a bit of a hothead and quite peculiar. Peculiar seemed like a understatement. The helmsmen didn’t bother wearing Starfleet uniforms and instead had a long trench coat and a cowboy hat. “Howdy, Commander.” he said as he tipped his hat.” I was scannin’ along when I noticed this transmission.” He punched in a key. It seemed like a song that came through, in a foreign language which seemed very old. Like a mix of Latin and a old Germanic language. “Source?” Madden asked. “The planet’s surface, partner.” Clint replied.” Tried to hail it in case it was a person trying to dial us, but nobody is picking up the phone. Tryin’ to track down the exact location.” “Nobody has lived on Ceti Alpha V since the Khan incident in 2285, Captain.” Linden said. “Have we tried the universal translator yet?” Madden asked. “I’m on it.” Lilian said and immediately ran it through.” Got something. It’s a recurring message, very short.” “Show us.” Madden said. Lillian nodded and played the translated portion. “-et brother juni-” “Trying to clear it up,….” Lilian said as he began typing again. “Puppet brother junior.” The transmission said. “Captain, we got another transmission.” Linden said.” It’s similar to the original transmission.” “Puppet brother senior!” a other voice said. “Puppet brother juniiiooor!” “Puppet brother senior!” “Sir, it seems like they are interacting.” Lillian said. “Puppet brothers!” the voices began to say together. “Boss, we are getting more transmissions from the planet’s surface...hundreds of ‘em.” Clint reported. “I am Commander S-rd and this is my favourite store on the Cit-! “Avengers Assem-“ “Proud citizens of the Terran Domio-“
Madden rubbed his beard as these messages kept pouring in. Seemed like his assignment just got more interesting.

Chapter 2: A blue box
Captain’s Log: Supplemental. In the past two hours since the first transmission, we have received three hundred and four more which all hail from what we believe are other universes. Most of them don’t make any sense, but a few do mention a gateway before our universal translator overheated. We have tried to send word to Starfleet but have been unable to do so due to an electrical surge which overheated the long range communication console. We still haven’t figured out if it was from Councilor Tilia’s coffee or the alien transmissions. We still have had no luck in finding the source of the transmissions. Only been in charge for two hours…
The captain was seated at the head of the table at the meeting room. To his right was Linden, who was the only competent officer on this ship sadly, followed by Black, Buchalan with his whiskey bottle, Gorvar, Clint and the Councilor. “So far the transmissions we receive are each from a other universe.” Lind said.” We do not know which one is from where since some of these are either transmitted by radio waves or other means like ours.” “Have we tried hailing them back?” the Captain asked. “We did on the short range console, sir.” Black said as she turned to look away from Linden for a moment.” But we got no response from any of them.” Madden rubbed his beard as he pondered.” Theories?” “Invasion from our evil counterparts in a Mirror-universe where everyone is evil and has a evil beard?” Clint suggested. “We would’ve seen hostile forces by now, or at least a other vessel like ours.” Lind said. “Nor have I felt bad vibrations, or any vibrations of any kind.” Tilia added before she began drawing again. “I’m willing to bad she hasn’t for some time ifyouknowwhatimsaying…” Buchalan chuckled before Gorvar chuckled in return and high fived him. “Do you have anything to add, Doctor?” Madden frowned.” Didn’t quite catch that.” “I said, what about this gateway they keep chatting about?” Buchalan said in a rare, sober moment.” Couple of ‘em mention that.” Gorvar began growling as Buchalan nodded, as if he interpreted what his friend said. “Good point there, Gorv.” “What did he say?” Madden asked.” And when is that universal translator fixed so we can understand what he is saying?” “It’s been fixed, sir.” Black said.” Chief Gorvar always talks like this.” “He said all of signals that talked about the gateway were radio transmissions, so it’s safe to say that those worlds are somehow interconnected.” Buchalan said.” The rest we are hearing is static from those other universes.” “So how come we are hearing all of them?” Madden asked. “Someone may have tried to open a gateway to another universe but accidently opened it to all universes.” Linden speculated.” And this conversation may be had on other vessels like ours.” “…Which again gives credence to my theory about evil beards.” Clint tried to sneak in. “it is…plausible, knowing the files on Captain Archer, Kirk and Sisko.” The Vulcan admitted. Clint smiled and clapped his hands in victory before leaning back in his chair. “Captain, we are receiving a visual transmission.” The bridge officer said. “We’re coming through.” Madden said and mentioned his officers to follow. As he passed Buchalan he snatched the whiskey bottle and dropped it in the empty fish tank. The doctor grumbled in his native language, which was a mix of Gaelic and Welsh and the tongue of drunks, before following his captain. “On screen.” Madden said as he took his seat on his chair.
The screen swapped to a humanoid creature. It was six feet tall, had two long, proportionately thick fingers and an opposable thumb on each hand, each tipped with talons, and a set of mandibles around it’s mouth. It had a metallic carapace and looked like a mix of a bird and a reptile. What was even more surprising, it was eating from a bowl with a spoon. The crew stared at the image until it went away. “Was that…thing eating cornflakes?” Black asked. “Yup…” Clint replied until his console made a sound.” Got several more images popping up.” These images included hooded figures fighting each other with colourfull sabers made out of light, A large man in green armour shooting at a alien much like the corn flake eating one in blue with a light sword and last of all, a group of large men in blue with heavy weapons shouting in unison as they charge at a mob of green skinned savages. “What are these images, Commander Linden?” Madden asked. Linden frowned as he tried to find out.” As far as I can gather, these are similar to camera footage. Some signals are coming in through the transmissions, just briefly though.” “Partner, we got something popping up on the planet!” Clint shouted.” Sector 456-E.” “On screen.” Madden said. The monitor changed to a large blue box appearing out of nowhere in the middle of a dessert. “Clint, Black you are with me. Linden, you have the bridge.” Madden said as he stood up. “Captain?” Linden looked confused. “I’m not ordering a man something that I am not willing to do.” Madden said as he and his two companions stepped inside the turbo lift to the transporter room.
The trio beamed down to the surface with two security officers in red uniforms. Commander Lilian Black took out her tricorder and began to scan the blue box. Her eyes peered at the readings which made her shake her head. “I’m not getting anything of this.” she admitted to Madden.” These are off the charts…this isn’t a normal blue box.” “Elaborate.” “Sir, this box emits a high amount of energy. It’s own energy, not the same as the ones from the transmissions.” “FATHER, THE SLEEPER HAS AWAKEND!” Buchalan shouted as he began relieving himself of a high sand dune. “Buchalan get off there!” Madden shouted annoyed before focusing back on Commander Black.” How do you mean?” “I mean this thing came here on it’s own accord, or was send here.” Madden was about to ask a question as the blue box opened. A woman with long blue hair in a fine tweed vest and a bowtie stepped outside. She gave at the captain and the commander a big smile. “Oh hello there, nice of you to drop in. Or beam in rather.” She slapped her hands together and rubbed them. “Who are you?” Madden asked. “I am the Doctor.” She replied. “Doctor who?” Black asked. “Lieden, but you can call me the Doctor.” “I’m a doctor!” Buchalan said as he walked over.” Doctor Chris Buchalan at your service.”
The Doctor grasped for something in her inner pocket and pulled out a device. It flashed green as it scanned Buchalan, much like a tricorder. She read the reading quickly before she shook his other hand. “Sorry about that. Was just making sure we wouldn’t destroy each other because we are from other realities.” “Right..I am Captain Madden of the Starship Dauntless.” Madden said.” These are Commanders Black and Clint.” He pointed to the Commander who walked to them. “Howdy, ma’m.” Clint said as he tipped his hat. “Nice hat!” she replied.” I got a fezz!” “Awesome!” “And you know Doctor Buchalan….so urghm, Doctor. What are you doing here?” Madden asked. “Simple, I picked someone up who asked me to bring him here.” The Doctor said and opened the door. Inside was a room which was many timers larger on the inside then the outside, it looked like a control room with lights and levers. But the person inside drew their eye…or more precisely, something.
It was a large piece of black armour, but it moved on its own. It two golden eyes which shone brightly through his visors, and a tabard which showed a blue woman. “Ser Knight, this is Captain Madden of the Dauntless.” The Doctor said. The black knight stepped into the sun. Before it could speak its eyes peered at Commander Clint. Immediately the knight knelt and bowed its head. “My Prince, I have finally found you….”

Chapter 3: Reveal
“Draconian Mades.” The animated suit of armour said in the briefing room. “Who?” the captain asked for clarification. “Draconian Mades.” The Doctor replied as she poured herself in some tea.” A evil warlock, very powerful. He somehow managed to gather enough magic to break open all the walls in the nearby universes, which explains the gateway over there.” She pointed out the window to the ever growing blue gateway on the planet’s surface. “Warlock, magic?” Buch snorted.” Magic doesn’t exist.” “The term magic is indeed a illogical way of describing the situation.” Linden replied. “Then how do you explain our metallic friend here, partner?” Clint asked. “There is a life force inside the armour.” Tilia said much to the surprise of everyone. “The scans said as much. So it is possible somehow they transported the energy or soul from one body to the armour.” “So this magic is a way to manipulate energies?” Madden asked.
“Alright.” The Doctor took a sip from her drink before she placed the cup down, slapped her hands together and rubbed them together.” What Ser Knight calls magic, we call energy. From his world, energy comes from all around them. Their mages draw power from the trees, the sun, dying car batteries, water, volcanoes and use it to throw fireballs, teleport armies across the country-“ “Grow very large and fight a demon made out of corpses.” Knight added, which drew a few frowns. “That sounds….interesting.” Captain Madden said. “Sounds very trippy.” Clint smirked.” So…how does this fit in with me being a prince?” “You are not Prince Clint Calious I’m sad to say.” The Doctor explained.” Well technically you aren’t. Every single person in this room has a other version of his or herself in every universe. Your other half in Ser Knight’s universe was his Master, who also had the same fashion sense as you do.”
“Which looks stupid…” Buch added before he took a sip form his scotch bottle. “So why did this Draconian Mades bust the walls open, Ser Knight?” Black asked. The knight looked at her with sad yellow eyes.” I was a part of the Fellowship of the Blue Lady, a group of powerful mages and warriors who roamed the land. We were tasked to bring down Mades who at that point was nothing more then a routine job. However when we fought him something…happened.” He paused.” When I awoke, the land was changed. Everything green was dead, the sky turned red and from it rained blood and nearly everyone was dead. My kingdom was destroyed, my friends were dead or hiding and Draconian Mades ruled the land. But that was not enough, he began constructing spires which tapped even more energy from the land and finally broke the walls down between our worlds.” “I came to investigate the cracks from my universe until the final blow broke everything.” The Doctor said.” When I went to the source, I found Ser Knight who asked me to help him.” Gorvar growled. “Well you were nearby and the tech in this universe is-“ “Wait, wait…” Clint held up his hand.” You understood what he said?” “Of course.” The Doctor smiled.” It’s because of the Tardis, it has a telepathically-based universal translation system. So I can understand what aliens are saying.” “Well, that means I’m not longer needed.” Buch finished his drink.” May I be excused captain?” “No.” Madden glared. “Oh…alright.” Buch slammed his head on the table and began to snore loudly.
“You are certain you think you will find aid here?” Linden asked Knight.” The Dauntless has seen better days.” “Yes.” Ser Knight replied.” Because all of you are like my friends.” “Come again?” Madden leaned in closer. “My friends, your…other selves were the Fellowship. When the Doctor brought me to you I knew. Only you can stop this threat.” Madden shook his head until he saw Tilia’s doodling became more intense as she began to sweat and shiver.” Counselor?” “He is coming….” She gasped.” He is coming, he is coming, he is coming-“ Gorvar took her by the shoulder as she began to hyperventilate. He kicked Buch awake who in a moment of clarity took up his medical tricoder and began treating her. “What’s wrong with her, Doctor?” Black asked. “I’m not sure.” The Doctor replied. “I meant the other one, the drunk one.” Black smiled weakly. “Oh…my apologies, this doesn’t happen often you know.” “I’m more pissed she didn’t say, our doctor. No just say the drunk one.” Buch shook his head. He took out a spray from his belt and placed it on Tilia’s neck and pressed the button. She calmed down and began to sleep.” Her mental abilities were going haywire, she was going to fry her noggin’ if she kept going.”
Black took the datapad and showed it to everyone. It was a dark cloud, with two red eyes as planets and stars burned below and behind it as it glared menacingly at the person who drew him. “Doctor Buchalan, take her to sickbay. Chief Engineer Gorvar, I want communications with Command as soon as possible. Commander Black, I want you to make sure every telepath we have on board are under close observation. That means you to, Commander Linden.” “Understood, sir.” Linden said. “If I may, may I take care of the Commander?” Black asked.” I mean he is your XO, I want to be sure myself.” Madden looked at her until he sighed and nodded, which made her smile with glee. “I will think on the matter further. Everyone dismissed.”The officers nodded and each went about their duties. Madden turned to his two guests.” As for you two, you are allowed to stay on my ship as my guests.” “Thank you, Captain.” The Doctor said.” If you don’t mind I would like to help the chief, the faster you call your superiors the better.” Madden gave his blessing which made her run after the Gorn. The knight merely sat still as the captain looked at him. “Something wrong, Ser Knight?” “No captain. Just…remembering.” “Do I look like one of your friends?”
The knight nodded.” Iron, he is….was a dwarf.” The captain stood up and walked over to the window which oversaw Ceti Alpha V. He motioned the enchanted suit of armour over as they watched at the planet.” How was he like?” “Headstrong, eager to fight, didn’t like taking orders and a rabble rouser…but a good man, a good leader.” Knight looked down at Madden.” Why do you ask?” “Curiosity.” Madden replied. He waited for a moment as the sun began to set on the other side of the planet which illuminated the blue gateway even more.” When I was a boy, my father always read books to me before bed time. My favourite was the Hobbit from JRR Tolkien. You heard of it?” Knight shook his head.” It’s about a group of dwarves and a hobbit who go on adventure to reclaim their homeland from a evil dragon.” “Sounds like Tuesday to me.” Knight said. Madden chuckled as he continued his story.” I think it’s because of that story I wanted to join Star Fleet. Go explore the galaxy with friends, fight the bad guys and be heroes.” “Children often dream of such things.” Madden nodded.” True, but this dream…I couldn’t let go. I wanted to go out there, make a difference. Be a hero.” “And did you?” Madden looked at the knight.” I did, and that is why I was send here.” “As a reward?” “Punishment.”
Meanwhile in the engine room
“So you and Doctor Buch get along.” The Doctor said as she helped the Gorn with some panels. Her sonic screwdriver scanned them before she began meddling with the wires. “We fought in the Dominion war together.” Gorvar replied as he placed a panel back when the Doctor was done.” We fought alongside each other through all of it.” “All of it?” the doctor asked. “Yes, he was already enrolled in Star Fleet before the war began. His shuttle got attacked by Cardassian ships who frequently attacked my world. I shot their ships down with a cannon I managed to salvage from a Klingon Bird of Prey. I helped him fix his ship, helped him bury his pilot. Buch cant fly a ship to save his life, so I decided to fly him back to a star base…been with him ever since.” “Didn’t you have a family back on your planet?” the Doctor began rerouting the power to the console as Gorvar made sure the flow was good.” Last I checked, Gorn aren’t the type to leave their planets.” “It wasn’t a Gorn colony, it was Maquis. My mate and I lived there. The Federation seemed eager enough to sign my papers to allow me in after I fixed a few warp drives for them.” “You fix warp drives?” “Warp drives, phaser banks, Photon torpedo’s, Shield generators…” Gorvar smirked as the current was good.” Communicators.” “You sound like quite a handy man.” The Doctor smiled.” Your wife must be happy to have you around.” “She did….” Gorvar said as he made the final checks.” She died a few days after I saved Buch. Cardassian raid. She was the only reason I was there, after she died I went with him.” “I’m sorry for your loss.” The Doctor put her hand on his shoulder. “She was a Saurian, Star Fleet. Picked me up from a escape pod after a Borg attack, saved my life, my soul…” he looked away for a moment and eventually brushed her hand away gently, quite uncharacteristic of what many would consider a giant savage lizard.“ I wanted revenge and I got quite a tally. After the war we were both posted here. Me because I was to unruly and he…well you know what happens in wars.”” “I do?” “I can smell it off you. You fought in a war, experienced loss.” The doctor nodded.” I did. Not many people notice that.” “Does it ever go away, the pain?” Gorvar asked. “No but…it becomes more bearable. And if you go traveling places well…it does help.” She scanned one last time before she gave the go ahead. “And so… here I am.” “And so here we are….” Gorvar frowned until he stomped on the console. The lights flickered on as the systems rebooted.” Communications are back on line.” “You are more than meets the eye, my scaly friend.” The Doctor smiled. Gorvar smirked and was about to rpely when the ship shook and a red alert went.
Meanwhile on the bridge “Partner, we got something coming out of the gate!” Clint shouted as the Captain and Ser Knight came on the bridge. “What is it?” Madden asked. “I don’t know but its big…” Clint said. The officers looked on as a large metallic octopus like creature came out of the gateway and flew toward them. “It’s saying howdy, partner.” Clint said. “On screen.” Madden replied. The monitor changed from the metallic octopus creature to it’s inhabitant. A avian looking creature, similar to the one they saw eating cornflakes before. Except this one looked more menacing with several mechanical parts added to him. “I am Saren Arterius, I came a long way to see you Captain Madden.” TBC

Chapter 4: First strike
“I am certain I do not need supervision all the time, Commander Black.” Linden said as he finished brewing his tea. “Don’t you like company?” Lily asked in return.” If you rather want me to leave-“ “No, that wont be needed.” The Vulcan replied as he placed two tea cups on the tray and walked over to the table in his quarters where the commander was seated.” I made Earl Grey Tea for two, it would be illogical and wasteful if I would ask you to leave.” Black could not help but smile as Linden sat across of her and poured in the tea in one of the cups. He then offered the cup to Lily who extended her hand to him. Her fingers wrapped around the cold cup which was slowly heating by the tea as her fingers touched his. To them, that one moment seemed to go on for a small eternity until finally the cup was nearly burning both their hands. With a shy smile Commander Black smiled at him and straightened her hair a little. “We’ve been serving together for three months and I don’t even know that much about you.” She said. “Likewise. Our shifts were mostly to blame presumably.” He suggested.” But if you wish to know me, I can rectify that.” “Rectify away then.” She chuckled.” Why did you enlist?”
“it was my father’s idea.” He said as he poured himself a drink.” He was a classmate of Spock.” “Your father was a friend of THE Spock?” Black blinked. “Not a friend no…rival more likely.” Linden elaborated.” My father always wanted to…how do you humans say “one-up” him because he was a half-breed. Years later, decades later he still wanted to outdo Spock. What better way than to sire a son and send him to join Star Fleet and actually having an heir while Emissary Spock never had a child.” “Sounds…pretty illogical.” Lily said. “It is, but in a way I enjoyed being pushed to my limit. Challenged as it were.” “So how did you end up here?” she took a sip from her tea since it cooled down. he took a moment to reply as he tried to seek his words carefully.” It is complicated. Let us say I defied the Prime directive repeatedly. I got send here as punishment as it were.” “How did your father take it?” “None to well, we have not spoken for several cycles.” Linden replied. “I’m sorry to hear that.” She said. “It is fine. I enjoy working with this crew at times, and I find you very pleasant to work with.” She flushed a little when he complimented her.” Really?” “Yes.” He answered simply.” So, how did you end up here, Commander?”
“Lily, please.” She smiled. “Lily it is then.” He nodded. “I always enjoyed old ships, like Archer’s “Enterprise” or the “Phoenix”, I have several models of them in my room if you want to see them.” Her eyes widened.” I didn’t mean it in the…you know.” “No, but I do would like to see them sometime.” He replied calmly. She sighed of relief and continued. “Well as I said, I like old ships and since the Dauntless saw so much history…when they asked which ship I wanted to join I choose the Dauntless.” “I am grateful you did.” Linden said.” As I said before, I enjoy working with you.” “Well it doesn’t have to be just work.” She smirked at him.” How about dinner? I am quite a good chef.” “Sounds like a good id-“ Everything went dark as red lights flashed around them. “Red alert.” Lily said as she got up. Linden nodded and followed her to the bridge, leaving their tea cups alone.
On the bridge
“I am Saren Arterius, I came a long way to see you Captain Madden.” The avian looking creature said. “I am Captain Isaac Madden of the Starship Dauntless.” Madden replied.” How can I help you Mr Arterius?” “Simple….die.” the monitor switched off. “Captain, they are charging weapons.” Lily said at tactical. “Shields up, arm phasers and photon torpedoes, Mr Clint evasive maneuvers.” The Captain ordered. “Aye aye partner!” Clint replied as steered the ship away from the alien ship.
It bore a resemblance to a cuttlefish or squid, with a bulky semi-cylindrical body, a tapering plate over the rear and five tentacle-like "legs" or arms extending from its front end, in addition to six jointed legs extending from its body. It looked like it belonged in an aquatic environment rather than the cold dark of space. In the center, a large red light flashed before it shot a large beam of molten metal at the Dauntless. The shield took up the damage but it shook the ship around heavily. The rear phaser opened fire but seemingly did no damage. “Port shields at 46 percent, phasers have no effect!” “The hell are they shooting at us with?!” Madden shouted. “It’s a Magnetohydrodynamic weapon, in other words they shoot molten metal at us at a fraction of the speed of light! If our shields fail and it can cut the Dauntless in half!” Linden replied. “Any weak points?!” “Scanning…this might take some time captain.” “We don’t have any time!” Madden retorted before he dialed engineering.” Gorvar, send the Doctor up here and give me everything you got!” he turned off the audio before he could hear Gorvar’s growling.
The Dauntless returned fire and kept dodging the attacks made by the alien ship. They tried several more hails but there was no reply. The Doctor entered the bridge as she held on to whatever she could as cadets fell all over the place, even if they were sat down on their chairs. “You would think they would put seat belts on these things…” She muttered. She looked up at the monitor as she saw what was chasing them.” Oh, a Reaper. Fancy seeing one of those around these parts.” “You know what it is?!” Madden shouted. “Yes, they aren’t as though as they claim to be, it’s just a matter of knowing where to hit them.” she smirked. “ Captain, turn this ship around and wait for my signal.” With that she ran off. “Doctor?! Doctor!...damnit. you heard Clint, turn this ship around, all weapons charged and shields at front.” “You know what the klingons say, It IS a good day to die!” Clint laughed and did as his captain said. “Captain, you cant be serious?!” Black asked. “We are being chased by a metallic octopus that shoots molten metal at us and a woman in a blue box that can travel worlds tells us we have a shot. I don’t know about you Commander, but I’m feeling lucky don’t you?!” he gave her a wicked grin before he stood up and pointed at the screen.” Engage!”
On the Reaper
“Pathethic humans…” Saren chuckled.” They are the same, whatever universe they are from.” “I cannot believe Draconian Mades thinks this ship a threat…” a blue skinned attractive alien woman said as she stood next to Saren.” There must have been some mistake…?” “Doesn’t matter, Benezeia.” Saren said to his cohort.” Once we secure this gateway, the Reapers can invade this universe instead and ours will be spared.” A light flashed which turned Saren’s head to the monitor.” They are turning around…facing us.” He smirked. “Are they going to ram us?” Benezeia raised a eyebrow. “Seems they have a bit more fight in them then I expected, let’s give them a honorable death at least.” He turned to the robot next to him which had a large brightly glowing photoreceptor for a face but overall looked a lot like him.” Fire the main gun, finish them off.” The robot turned back to it’s controls and prepared to fire the main gun. As it did, red lights flashed everywhere which made the robot and everyone else on the bridge look around in confusion. Benezeia went over to a monitor and typed in some keys.” Something is holding the mouth piece open!” “What is?!” Saran’s eyes began to flash red. Benezeia pulled up a live feed and threw it on the monitor. It was just outside Sovereign, a small blue box with a open door where a human female was aiming something that flashed green at them. “Get the Occuli out, if those humans know our weakness they-“ Saren tried to say but stopped when he saw the Dauntless poised at them.” By the spirits…”
On the Dauntless
Madden smirked when he saw the large orb of fire that stuck out of the monster’s gullet that wasn’t going anywhere. That was a signal if ever he saw one. “Miss Black…fire. Give it everything we got.” “Firing all weapon sir.” Lily replied and fired all weapons. Phaser fire and torpedoes flew toward the Reaper and hit with heavy force. The Reaper made an almost organic movement of curling around in pain until it exploded and heavy debris was flying everywhere. The crew cheered as a blue box re-appeared on the bridge and the Doctor stepped out. “You saved our lives, Doctor.” Madden said with a smile.” Thank you.” “Don’t thank me yet. That was just one of thousands of Reapers that serve Draconian Mades now.” She closed the door of the TARDIS behind her.” This is only the beginning.”

Chapter 5: Where no man has gone before
Tillia slowly opened her eyes as she used her hand to shield her from the bright lights that came from the medical bay. “Ah, you are awake. About bloody time. Only been sleeping for three days.” She heard Dr Buch say. She took her time to come to before she slowly sat up and placed her feet on the ground. As she opened her eyes fully, she saw many of the sick beds were occupied by injured crewmen as Buch hurried from one bed to another. Yet despite the crowded room and the stress that came with it no doubt, Buch seemed to be at ease and had time for a sip from his bottle from time to time. “What happened…?” Tilia asked as she stood on her feet.” Where we attacked?” “By a large spaceship in the shape of a octopus that shoots molten metal at the speed of light, I’m told. Must be Tuesday again.” The doctor replied as he bend over a patient with his leg in a strange bend. He grabbed the leg and gave it a good pull which restored the leg to a normal position but made the patient scream of pain.” Oh don’t be a fookin’ nancy boy, I had to keep my own guts in when we attacked Cardassia Minor. You can take a little hurt like this.” he slapped the man on the leg again and walked off to the next patient. “Your bedside manner leaves much to be desired.” Tilia said as she walked over.” Do you need assistance?” “I’m fine, Counselor.” Buch said as he took out his medical spray and gave another patient some morphine to calm her down.” Why don’t you doodle something, you are good at that.” “I do not doodle.” She frowned slightly.” I help people cope if they have problems of the mind.” “Good, I could use help with my sodoku this week. Buggers get more difficult every week I tell you…” he moved over to another crew men. Buch checked his pulse before he shook his head and pulled a blanket over the man’s face. Tilia looked at the scene.” Is he…?” “Dead, no. Just fookin’ ugly as sin.” Buch replied and walked over to his desk to pour himself in another glass of scotch.” ECH, do your thing.” When Tilia tried to say something, a half-naked bald man appeared wearing nothing from the waist up and began taking over the wounded. ”You want one?” Buch offered a glass to the Counselor. She shook her head which made him shrug and gulp hers down. “You have an unique way to cope with stress and death, Doctor.” Tilia said as she followed him.” Sarcasm, vulgarity, alcoholism. Qualities that shouldn’t belong in a doctor.” She closed the door behind them.” Whatever did happen during the war that broke you so?” Buch paused for a moment as he stared into his glass.” Words are words are words, Counselor. You wouldn’t understand if I tried.” He stared her down.” You think having studied for years, knowing how the human or alien body works, knowing how the enemy works…all those late night surgeries for experience, all the simulations….” He drank his glass.” It’s NOTHING compared to what goes on in the real world. People die, I know that is part of the job. But what I had to do, what I had to keep doing to stay alive…what my officers ordered me to do..” he poured himself in another drink. “You broke your oath.” Tilia sat across of him.” You used your knowledge to kill people.” “Not just people…” he swallowed it all down.” A whole race.” He sat down.
Tillia folded her hands on her lap and waited for what he had to say. “It was a species that did not discover warp speed yet. The Vakarians or something, I don’t recall. They shared a planet with Jem'Hadar that broke loose from the Dominion after they found the Vakarians could make ketracel white on their own, you know the one thing those blue fookers needed to be alive. Thing is, the Vakarians were bessy mates with the Jem’Hadar. I don’t know how, but our spies said that genderless race of super soldiers were defending these people from every harm they could and were integrated in Vakarian society. Friends, adoptive fathers, soldiers, protectors…the monsters we so hated were defending these Vakarians from monsters the size of shuttles! Starfleet stood before a predicament. If the Dominion found the Vakarians planet and along with the Jem’Hadar there were two scenarios. One, they would enlist the Vakarians to join them and possibly give the Dominion a chance to make more Jem’Hadar or two, bomb the entire place and take that planet for themselves. So my captain asked me to do the unthinkable…”
“Kill the Jem’Hadar?” Tilia asked. The doctor nodded as he poured in the last bit of scotch in his glass. “Why didn’t Starfleet make contact with the Vakarians?” Tillia asked. “The Prime Directive forbids every contact with species that have not discovered warp travel. Lest we disturb their grow cycle or some shite…” Buch replied.” So of course we were buggered. So we had to do the next best thing and kill every Jem’Hadar and destroy any traces of them being there lest the Dominion found out and fried those poor bastards. They got some tosser from New Vulcan to do the latter, I was the arse who had to commit genocide.”
“Did you?” Tillia asked. Buch looked at her again with hatred on his eyes, not to her but the hate was there.” I did. I developed a poison that killed all the Jem’Hadar. People that for once in their own free minds decided to help out those poor bastards…and I killed them. All of ‘em.” “But you end up saving a lot a of lives.” Tillia said. “Six months later we came back to check out that planet, see if we missed anything.” Buch twirled the contents of hiss glass around. “There was nothing left there anymore, Counselor. There was nobody left. The moment those Jem’Hadar died, they died. I am the man who killed not one two but two people. Starfleet congratulated me for destroying a possible threat to the Alpha Quadrant. I saved billions of lives for the cost of thirty thousand…give or take.” “You did save billions of lives.” Tillia said. “Then how come I feel more like a monster then the Jem’Hadar?” Buch retorted.
Captain’s Log: March 27th. For the past three days we have been waiting for a reply from Starfleet after we defeated the Reaper. I have been using this time to get closer to the crew. Despite their lack of protocol, they acted well during the battle and truth be told I am glad we didn’t lose anyone. The Doctor and Ser Knight have been excellent guests so far and the crew has taken a great liking to them. And still they have not once pressured me or my crew to go through the gateway. I don’t know if Starfleet will listen to their pleas, but I hope they will.
“Captain.” Clint said.” We got a transmission from Starfleet.” “You stopped calling me Partner, Helmsmen?” Madden smirked a little. “Been a busy few days, partner.” Clint admitted.” Pardon my lack of proper greeting.” “Put it through, helmsmen. All decks.” The captain replied. “Aye aye, partner.” Clint said and put the message through. His smile waned however when he saw who the message was from.” Oh god dangit..” “Captain Madden, this is Admiral Clint.” A older man on the other end said. He had a similar accent to Clint but was more restraint and where their helmsmen spoke with a certain smile, the admiral was very cold.” We received your transmission and are sending the Enterprise from Mars to your location to seal the gateway with new tech Professor Seven of Nine created. We cannot afford threats like these Reapers to come into our universe, not with the Klingons edging for a fight. And helping species, such as this Knight creature you described, without any access to warp drives is against the protocol of the Prime Directive. It’s their problem, let them sort it out before we get the brunt of it. You are to remain where you are until further notice. Admiral Clint out.”
As the monitor fell silent, so did the entire bridge. Ser Knight merely stood gaping as the Doctor started poking at her sonic screwdriver to stem the nerves. Madden slowly walked back to his seat and sat down. “Captain?” Commander Linden asked. “How many people do you think are beyond that gateway, Commander Linden?” Madden asked. “Difficult to say, Captain.” Linden replied.” Uncountable I presume.” “318 trillion, give or take.” The Doctor said which made everyone on the bridge to turn their heads at her.” In case you wanted numbers.” “And we have been giving orders to remain here while those people are left to die?” Black responded.” Sir, we cant just leave them alone like this!” “It would be against the Prime Directive, Commander.” Madden replied. “With all due respect sir…to HELL with the Prime Directive.” She replied. “I agree with Commander Black.” Linden replied.” As Spock once said, The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” “Well in that case…” Madden said as he stood up.” We will set course then. Helmsmen, give me all decks.” Clint nodded and patched him through.” Your on partner” “All decks, this is Captain Madden. We will move through the gateway in ten minutes. We will defy a direct order from Starfleet and when…if we come back we might face court martial. Anyone who wishes to leave, please head for the evacuation pods until the Enterprise gets here.” He paused.” There are countless of people who we never met before need our help. People who stand alone against the dark and we are their only hope. I am not going to lie to you, this sounds insane and illogical. But remember, if it wasn’t for the Vulcans uplifting us after the Third World War we would not be here. If it wasn’t for the Doctor when the Reaper attacked, we would not be here. In those cases, both the Vulcans and the Doctor didn’t know us and risked everything to help us regardless. Let’s make that karma go around. Captain Madden out.” Madden looked up at Ser Knight and the Doctor who both nodded at him with a small smile. Minutes went by, each one a small eternity. The com signal creaked as growls came through from engineering. Soon enough a signal came through from Sickbay.” This is Sickbay. Like Gorv said we’re with you, you magnificent bastard.” “This is Deck 11, we are with you Captain.” Another com said. “This is Deck 4, we’re behind you Captain.” “Deck 6, ready for duty sir.” One by one the decks all lit up. With a smile Madden stood up and walked over to Clint.” Mr Clint, engage.” “Will do, partner.” Clint tipped his hat and moved the Dauntless towards the gateway.
Meanwhile
A figure was sat in his chair alone as he enjoyed his wine. The room was in complete darkness save for the window which showed the stars above and dragons flying around, sometimes blowing fire or ice at something down below. “The last of the rebels, I’m sure my lord.” A voice said behind him as the back of the room glowed a little.” The Nords are a stubborn creed.” “Report, Mr Glow…” the figure said to the glowing elf. “We have received reports that the Dauntless just entered this universe. Just like you expected. Lord Madis.” The figure smirked as he looked at a village burning.” Good….”
