"Now see girl? That's why you are the undisputed weaker sex and we are humiliating you on the radio. Name one woman wrestler who's any good. Name the first woman on the Moon. Ah, trick question. Name one woman pro football player. How many women wrote Shakespeare's plays? Answer me! You can't."

"Well... last Christmas, if you remember, I gave you my heart. And, uhm. The very next day you gave it away! Well, now, this year - to save myself tears and expense and embarassment - I've made the unilateral decision to give it to someone... special. Really."

'History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme.' ~ Mark Twain
'No official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know.' ~ J.F. Kennedy, The President and the Press: Address before the American Newspaper Publishers Association, 1961

Australian history is almost always picturesque, indeed it is so curious and strange that it is itself the chiefest novelty the country has to offer. It does not read like history, but like the most beautiful lies. And all of a fresh sort, not moudly old stale ones. It is full of surprises, and adventures, and incongruities, and incredibilities, but they are all true, they all happened.

Mark Twain Exhibit A: Ned Kelly I first heard about that guy on a Canadian show called The Re-inventors. Kind of a cheap Canadian knock off of Mythbusters. Really not a bad half hour of TV. Somehow I walked away from that episode thinking Ned Kelly was American.

"The scientists from Franklin to Morse were clear thinkers and did not produce erroneous theories. The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane."

Hell no, Ned Kelly was Australian (though he would have called himself Irish). He really did wear that armour, too. They made it from old plows if I recall correctly. We Aussies have an ... interesting relationship with our bush rangers. They're almost worshiped as heroes. I guess the old convict heritage wins though, eh. Ned Kelly is a national treasure.

Well when the guys on the Re-inventors recreated the armour it turned out to be rather effective against small arms but beastly heavy(duh). I think it turned out to be less effective against rifles but I am likely not remembering that one right. Impractical? Yes? Effective? Weell sorta. Awesome? Hell yeah.
