I read some of it. This "expanded fan fiction" rumor has merit, because it reads like some good fan fiction with the little errors taken out.
I decided that it wasn't the best thing for me to be reading, so I stopped.

The image in Buch's original post is not showing, but is it safe to assume my response would still be along the lines of 'WTF? '? :}

I watched the movies a while back. They were in the background - I was working at that time - so I didn't get too much WTF about them. The countryside where they filmed them looked very pretty, I must say. So, for me, the Twilight movies are about lovely coniferous forests and a bunch of weird-looking kids.

I will admit, I do like the movies... a little... even though I can't stand Bella and Edward as characters and I thought the actors were wrong for the roles... but, I must agree with you, Lieden, that the scenery was lovely - I absolutely loved the forest Edward took Bella to when he showed off his sparkles... I could almost put up with the cheesy music and the sparkle by trying to ignore him for the sight of the lovely trees around him... and I actually liked the music (the actual songs, not the background sparkle / atmosphere sounds). Especially the first song ("Full Moon" by The Black Ghosts) and the Linkin Park song ("Leave Out All The Rest"). I also have a big love for instrumental / orchestral music, and the first song from the actual score is rather nice... Sorry for the cheesy pic on the video, but the song is nice ;D

I admit, the film HAS some good bits. I mean Carlyle's backstory is fucking awesome and I think it would've been a better fucking movie then the Edward/Bella bullshit. plus the fight scenes are pretty damn awesome....not worth sitting through all that shite though.

AND WHY DONT THE WEREWOLVES WEAR FUCKING SHIRTS?! IT'S RAINING FOR FUCK'S SAKE! Fanservice, my dear Gorvar... fanservice. I remember when I went to see New Moon with my best friend... he's older than I am by a few years (he's 40 now, he was 37 when the movie was in theatres). Anyway, we went to see the movie and the theatre was filled with teen girls and women... and few hapless men who'd been dragged to see it... and me, and my friend who wanted to see it almost more than I did... lol. The first time Jacob Black took off his shirt, and that scene was so contrived - how he stands from the crouch and lifts the shirt over his head, flaunting his rather impressive torso as he did... and my friend and I cracked up laughing when all the girlies in the theatre let out one long, loud, collective "Ooooohhhhh!" and a very noticeable wistful sigh... I couldn't breathe, I was laughing so hard... ;D On another note, Gorvar, I agree that Carlisle's backstory is a hell of a lot more interesting than the story of Bella and Edward... and I for one would not mind knowing a bit more of the history of the Volturi, especially the big three - Caius, Marcus, and Aro... and Rosalie's backstory was kind of tragic, and quite a bit more serious than the tripe Bella finds upsetting in her life. I feel like Rosalie's story was treated as a token "sad thing" and then never spoken of again, which does her a disservice. It makes me resent Bella / S.Meyer even more for making everything all about herself when Rosalie and Carlisle and the others deserved a lot more page-time / screen-time. But then, Twilight Saga was pretty much S.Meyer's sordid daydreams and Mary-Sue-ish fantasies put to page.

It;s like George Lucas and Star Wars. He created the universe and it;s up to other writers to make awesome stories in it. Hell most of the EU is amazing compared to the Prequels. Seriously, Battle for Jabiim is the best one out there next to Quinlan Vos story. Also Republic Commando.

Well, I would be tempted to write a story in the Twilight universe, using Carlisle or Alice or even the Volturi as a base... but I don't think I'd do a good enough job...

You would still do a better job then Meyers is. Hell, i have half a mind to write up Bella;s dad Charlie, do a cop thing with supernatural shit going on, or a realistic cop thing like Sam and Twitch from Spawn.

I'm sorry but if Twilight gets an expanded universe, especially one as heavily written as Star War's I might just crawl into a fallout shelter with a 100 lb bag of chips and hope they last me until the world is sane again...
