I was pleasantly surprised with how intriguing the pilot episode was. Seems to be mostly clean of any interference by Zach Snyder (the modern day John Milhus in terms of being influential, but also a douche).
Also, I really love how the series creators seem blatantly aware of what Rorschach's idiot fans are like in real life, and decide to take the piss in a very uncomfortably topical way.

I really liked this first episode. In particular that scene with Tim Blake Nelson interrogating that guy. The visuals and soundtrack were really unnerving there. I'm also really excited to see more of whatever the hell's going on with Jeremy Irons.

I'm also really excited to see more of whatever the hell's going on with Jeremy Irons. I recently read that the soundtrack was in fact, done by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, of Nine Inch Nails fame. Clearly explains why I felt both properly pumped, and hella unnerved during scenes where the musical score kicked in. NIN don't fuck around! I've played the original Quake!

Watchmen Superhero Report Card so Far:
Sister Night:
Basically the show's BAMF? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
PROS + She's a battle nun. Reminds me of the Sisters of Battle from Warhammer 40k in the best way possible. + She has a column of beads... an incredibly underrated off-hand martial arts weapon. + Understands the defensive qualities of a dead cow. + She uses a Heckler & Koch handgun, which is hella useful and badass. CONS - ...she uses a Heckler & Koch handgun, a company, which due to press conferences, is more than just notorious for being psychotically numb to uh... certain "events" in the United States. - She sound very weird, hoarse, and non-threatening when she's yelling. She's basically female Pierce Brosnan in that regard. - She's a cop. She may be straight lace but she's a cop. Like Kamala Harris.
Looking Glass:
Tim Blake Fuckmothering Nelson...
PROS + Highly soothing country-western redneck voice. + Expert, GOAT interrogator. + Name is "Looking Glass" which shares the name of the company who worked on title of my favorite video game series (Thief and System Shock). + Played by TIM BLAKE FUCKIN' NELSON
CONS - Mask distractedly reminds me of the ones some assassins from Transmetropolitan wore. - Hideous goatee. - A cop
Pirate Jenny:
Mysterious badbabe.
PROS + Chain mail mask; arguably the best. + Is hot. Maybe we'll see her naked...? + Tells everyone to fuck off and gets away with it (The Dream).
CONS - Okay we get it, you're pissed. - So far feels like a typical "bad girl" role that was written for Michelle Rodriguez. - A cop
Red
Eastern European son of a junk-gun.
PROS + Has the best costume. + Rushes towards enemy fire and survives. + Has the stones to eat during an important meeting. + Understands the increasingly dying art of using a smoke grenade.
CONS - Talked the least out of any superhero in the pilot episode. - Probably going to be portrayed as a stereotypical, obnoxious gopnick in future episodes. - Is a cop.
Panda
Lmfao...
PROS + He's a superhero who's power is bureaucracy. + He's a superhero who's power is fucking bureaucracy! How fucking funny is that?
CONS - (Sullen voice, frown) He's a superhero who's power is bureaucracy. My name is Garrus Vakarian by the way. - Indirectly responsible for expediting the attempted murder of a Tulsa police officer (due to bureaucracy). - He's a cop.

Don't forget Louis Gosset Jr.'s character: Sister Night's costume is really cool. I like how flowy and twirly the coat/habit bit is. And the smear of black makeup across her eyes, even if it does remind me of Peebee from Mass Effect Andromeda. Also, if anyone's wanting a pretty good podcast about this show, Bald Move are doing a pretty good one.

Haha, this show really is a series that takes place entirely in International Assassin land. I live for whatever Jeremy Irons is doing in this.
Also, I think the American Hero Story bits have to be the only time someone's taken the piss out of Zach Snyder and Ryan Murphy at the same time.

I like the original story and question the need to add more to it.

I like the original story and question the need to add more to it. Honestly, if it was anyone other than Lindelof writing this, I probably wouldn't care much about this project myself.

Man, between this and Mr. Robot's final series, I've been like a pig in prestige shit lately. Robot does pair pretty well with Watchmen in general, what with the alternate present day New York setting.

Last episode was great. Loved the Michael Imperioli cameo. Wasn't crazy about the cloning scene (which at first, hilariously reminded me of the profoundly crummy Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle, The 6th Day). And the alternate reality Schindler's List reference was sooo baaad.
Other than that, great episode. I'm excited to see Red Scare, Pirate Jenny, and Panda's origin stories.

I haven't seen the most recent epi, but you just know Tim Blake Nelson looking after that klan robe for Angela is gonna lead to a Frasier-level misunderstanding.

Kind of amusing this is the second HBO show in as many months where houses of worship in shopping centres have been a plot point.
Baby Billy Freeman cameo, please.

Shopping centers have lots of cheap space anymore, and none of the finicky nonsense about asking what your show is going to have in it.

I liked how Captain Metropolis and the Minutemen in this one were basically the MCU. They don't wanna actually make a point or fight for anything, they just wanna look cool and make bank selling you hot consumer products.
Also, I know we're probably supposed to be worrying about how far he's going, and what he and Lady Trieu are planning, but I was just loving that scene where Will made Judd kill himself. Dude's an absolute legend, lol!
Also, from watching behind the scenes stuff about this, I was really surprised to find out Tim Blake Nelson just sounds like a normal guy?
