Black Mesa ain't got nothing on this shit. Music is fucking creepy and the show really oozes atmosphere.
So far in the three episodes that have been released, the show isn't unwatchably traumatic, but it IS unsettling. If you're easily unsettled, particularly by depictions of radiation exposure, you might wanna skip this.

P.S. - Goes without saying, but if you ALSO hated Enemy At the Gates for giving Soviets English accents, then don't bother with this. It's my biggest gripe with it, the fact that Ukrainians, Russians, and Belorussians all sound like Paul McCartney or Keith Richards, despite the fact that the acting is damn solid.

I'm really enjoying it, too. Chernobyl was a few years before my time, so it's nice to have a little bit of (Non-Modern Warfare) context and elaboration on what went down. There's a really good official podcast where the writer of the series goes into more detail on the real events and that.
Also, whether he's giving a monologue about space terrorism or making a scene with his big Texas belt buckle, Jared Harris is one of the best actors in television.

Yo, Comrade Glowinski, are you one of a billion people who think the desolation of Pripyat was first portayed video game wise in Modern Warfare?
I will go RPG Codex levels of vain clamoring if you fail to mention or even check out the STALKER series.

I will go RPG Codex levels of vain clamoring if you fail to mention or even check out the STALKER series. STALKER was one of those niche games that was always recommended to me, but unlike say, MGS or Deadly Premonition, it just seemed less accessible. Never tried to get into it for whatever reason. Also Jessie Buckley was pretty fucking good in this most recent episode. Anyone who hasn't seen Wild Rose yet, I would really recommend checking it out on home video. Just an enjoyable ass film about an aspiring Glaswegian country singer/ex-con/mother.

Nice to see Emily Watson getting some props for this. I had literally never seen her in anything else apart from 2003's poor Red Dragon (turns out Brett Rather is not as good of a director as Michael Mann, who knew?) where she, along with Ralph Fiennes were really a bright spot.
Stellan Skarsgard was pretty great, too. That scene with Scherbina and Legasov talking during the recess was some emotional shit.
Jared Harris has also proved himself to be the best Jared out there. A ProJared, if you will...
