A thread about tabletop adventures. Get a mug of ale and tell us a story about your sessions and/or projects you're working on.
That said, I've been reading up on Word of Darkness supplements lately, especially if it involves both Mage: The Ascension and Mage: The Awakening, courtesy of the FATAL and Friends thread from another forum.
That got me thinking: Was Mage a hit and miss at times? I've been reading Destiny's Price supplement and it sounded like it came from an Image comic at times. Don't get me wrong, I love the premise of the Mage setting, along with some of the other World of Darkness modules, including Vampire. Also I'm looking up Dragons of the East supplement and it had an interesting background section at the beginning, including the history of the region and the religions and how they are tied up to magic. Although, I've to reach to the part where things go down the drain in Dragons of the East later on.
Also trivia note: Not sure who said it, but either Chris Avellone or Obsidian mention they were interested in writing an RPG for the World of Darkness someday. To be honest, I hope it's Mage: The Ascension or Mage: The Awakening

I'm currently on a team careening toward doom in "World of Darkness: Hunter"

Just finished our Tides of Numenera tabletop campaign yesterday as a matter of fact.
Our nano (equivalent of a mage) fucked up space and time by trying to get revenge on the jack (rogue) for banging his mom. Things went awry, and we all ended up being enslaved and tortured for eternity by a master computer.
EDIT: Just to clarify, no I'm not kidding.

Hey Cali. Have you forgotten about the evil messiah episode? Or the dildo starship segment?

I dabbled very lightly in Mage the Ascension. The DM had a habit of simply making things difficult for his players on a one off campaign. Having said that it was both intriguing and...weird.
White Wolf had a habit of leaving a lot open to interpretation for roleplay purposes but their meta writing was downright shoddy at times (Ending of Vampire the Masquerade and subsequent reboot I'm looking squarely at you).
Best thing to do with their work was to use their sourcebooks as a foundation and do your own thing. Loved their Aberrant stuff and Trinity was pretty decent as well.

Yeah, White Wolf created a great setting and a wonderful system, but definitely their meta storytelling is awful. Such as their attempt to paint the Technocracy as the bad guys... when some of the meta shit happened in Mage: The Ascension to a point you would think that they had a point. Again, I didn't like the Final Night segment and I'm very much on the fence with the reboot of Mage. Best thing to do with their work was to use their sourcebooks as a foundation and do your own thing. Well, Me, Cali and another friend outside of MEFF did created a homebrew setting, that was inspired by Mage: The Ascension, but over time it mutated into it's own thing. Basically a lighter and softer version of it, with much more human elements this time around.

Hey Cali. Have you forgotten about the evil messiah episode? Or the dildo starship segment? (Looks toward the camera) All that happened, too.

Numenera: Whatever happens in Japan, stays in Japan edition.

The Japan on that planet is weird.

Bloody weird. Great tech though, if you know how to use it.

Dunno if you guys heard, but Games Workshop and Fantasy Flight Games are officially suspending their contract in February. This is sorta your last chance to nab these gems before they become collector's items. They're really good, and so is Deathwatch!

If Games Workshop hadn't all but shuttered out here that would be a minor investment. I don't even know where to get tabletop games around here anymore outside of a very cluttered comic book store. The community kinda dried up.

Recently I've been looking through the second edition of Mage: The Awakening from the FATAL and Friends thread and I have to admit, the rulebook seemed to grow on me so far, especially the system were much more polished than the first edition. I'm thinking about getting it later on.

I'm not going to lie, I prefer Mage: The Awakening 2nd Edition system than The Ascension. Mostly because Awakening is more clearer and has less bloat than Ascension. Even the 20th anaversary edition is still a major clusterfuck of a mess in that state and a lot of things from the M20 rulebook is a bit offensive to say the least. Worse the 20th versions of Vampire and Werewolf were much more polished than that... thing.

Me, Tillian, and two other people have been running a tabletop campaign on roll20.net set in our Logos universe.
So far our heroes have:
- Gotten into gambling debts - Gotten into brawls over said gambling debts - Stole a letter of credit from the bank of Zurich - Were saved from a group of pillaging Swiss mercenaries by an extremely pissed off stallion. - Adopted said stallion as a familiar. - Loudly charged a protestant witchfinder inside a decommissioned ore mine and scared him enough that he soiled himself. - Dropped a chandelier on a dude during a barfight and cast a spell to make the powder in his buddy's pistol ignite prematurely and accidentally shoot himself. - Eaten nothing but cheese and blood sausages on the road. - Been accused of witchcraft, twice
