Restarting a thread on an old topic, because the last thread got shitposted hard. Even by this forum's standard. So, the other day, I was looking into more about writing transgender characters, I've managed to dig up a few useful info. thewritingcafe.tumblr.com/post/62394066421/transgender-characterswriteworld.org/post/40408922414/writing-the-lgbt-communitystarlightify.tumblr.com/post/36188115381/merlins-quick-guide-to-writing-trans-characterstransplantportation.com/2013/08/07/how-to-write-trans-characters-or-at-least-some-decent-ideas/I got to admit, I after reading these, I felt confident enough by taking the next step and starting creating one. Although, it won't be focusing on said character's orientation, rather more on the actual plot and the usual characterisation works, where the author tries to flesh out the person within the story. Still, that's some progress for now on my part. Also here's a tip: Before you add an LGBT character in your story, ask yourself: Why I'm adding the character into the narrative in the first place? If the said character was relevant to the plot in someway, like the plot does need the character to get the gears running, then it's a good reason. Although preferably a live LGBT character, with a personality and is not a deus ex machina.

Remember guys, when writing a gay character:
1) Never have the character mention they're gay. 2) Never have that fact influence their backstory, outlook or personality.
Those paths only lead to Forced Diversity. Which is the only kind of diversity I don't like, obviously.

Watching them rancid ass ChrisRayGun videos are we? No I was replaying Mankind Divided and was reminded of various Reddit conversations that were exclusively straight guys deciding the only tasteful way of writing a gay guy is if that character's sexuality is only ever alluded to in their supermax optional apartment.

Very difficult not to read this post in Mac from Always Sunny's voice. "It felt so natural and primal being able to exert myself onto a woman."
