Double post but this valid on this topic for a reason.
Lately I've been reading other fan fictions besides Mass Effect... mostly bad ones. (eg:WoW fics)
*Startle realisation* I see more slash, smut and lemon fics are getting more reviews and attention than the general, original flavour ones. That kinda irritates me quite a bit lately. I know my fan fictions are not that spectacular, especially with the crappy grammar errors but still it made feel a tad pissed about it when I've saw a smut fiction gaining quick attention and faster reviews than I have (especially the ones have badly written erotica scenes). So let me get this straight I'll probably get more attention if I add a lemon scene in it... riiiiight I get on in the "Mindoir's Lullaby."
(Haha, kidding... fat chances that I'll stoop to that level or write someting like that when clearly writing a convincing scene is more difficult to pull off than trying to polish your grammatical skills, plus *spoilers* there's no romance, it only goes as far as a small minor crush.)
Anyways, due to that, I've seen too many smut fictions especially in the M rating section of ff.net. (When I was looking in the Warcraft fiction section anyways.). It cannot be helped the fact most of those stuff is written by GIRLS. Yeah, you hear me! Girls! That's right, the majority of fan fic writers are girls according to one of the TV tropes article section. It certainly didn't help lift up the stigma of fan fictions when the majority of them were mostly Smut stuff written by young bratty teens looking for lust.
Sorry it became a hostile rant but it's just me came out of the woodwork after reading a really corny, trashy and bad WoW fiction that has a royal Mary Sue with lot's of smut and lemon thrown around, that even makes most... wait make it ALL of the Mass Effect fan fiction looked tame and a piece of artwork. I kid you not >.<
Btw Zars, I'm still reading Hierachy III, it's looking good so far but I can't give you a review until I'm done finishing reading the whole lot since I'm not particularly the fastest reader on the planet.

Is a 'lemon' story one which has an explicit sex scene in it? I googled it but I couldn't be sure.
Yeah those things do get a lot of attention, and often so do the really bad fics. Bah.

Urban Dictionary is better than google for asking questions like that.
And yes, a "lemon" is usually a one-piece smut-fic. Often otherwise known as a PWP (which stands for "Plot? What plot?"). Some of them aren't that bad. Some are just bloody awful, though >_<.

Even in the days where I find myself twisted and depraved I cannot derive enjoyment from the so called "lemon" fiction. It's terrible, distasteful, and attracts imbeciles. And yes, it's mostly written by sexually deprived girls. Also: www.fanfiction.net/s/3675475/1/Krystals_nightmareI have fond memories laughing and throwing up at the same time from this

*reads that*
Oh lawdy. That is really quite awful. Haha... oh dear. People with writing skills that abysmal should be taken out and euthanised. With a shotgun, both barrells.
Or a chainsaw...

ugh! fucking lemons (yes I'm throwing a cluster F bombs again but hey, they are my pet peeve now.). Yes, lemons, derived from a term in about a nasty cheap car for cheap deals and someone is desperate enough to buy it. Basically it sums up what Lemons stand for really, think of this way: It's like paying a nasty looking hooker in some bad side of the street, to spend the night with you just to get the "need" flowing, only the next morning you also get really bad consequences as well. Like I've said about being desperate enough to buy a car that will break down after a few km, you'll also get STD for that. Ok, I know it's a bad disgusting analogy but then again so does lemons. Those bratty teen sexually deprived girls who really need to get out more and do something else rather keep thinking about get "on with it". Or see a psychologist. EDIT: btw I've found this piece of shit the other day. God if it weren't for the MST subtitles, Imma throw up /puke www.nabiki.com/mst/megane67/mst/oscarfic/al67.html

Does reading lemon fic make me a bad person?

No but it does give you some bad consequences instead like side effects and reaching out for brain bleech.

I think writing it makes you a bad person.
I just read that Star Fox thing btw. I have to say... I wasn't expecting Peppy to be involved.

Gross... sorry I haven't read the whole damn thing. I will finish eventually tomorrow. (My brain is scrambled from redoing my fricken grammar.)
Mr. Buch is right about that though. Only writing a Lemon, then you committed a sin in the laws of writing.
Anyways, I think I've read too many smut and lemons in one week. My brain is fried... I think I need some brain bleech or something...
*stumbles off like someone that is drunk or stoned*

I love this phrase, 'brain bleach'. Someone needs to invent that. But seriously that Starfox thing was pretty gross.
